The purpose of this thread is for recording the season’s day to day activity at the Manton Bay nest thus freeing up the Rutland Osprey Project 2017 thread for general news on all the other birds, nests and projects.
For anyone new following Manton Bay, Maya and Blue 33(11) have been the resident pair for the last two years and to date have raised six chicks. More details about the nest and a table of the breeding data can be found here. Last season Maya returned on the 21 March and Blue 33(11) arrived a few days later on the 27 March.

I am sure I speak for us all in wishing Maya and Blue 33(11) a safe journey home and for another successful season at Manton Bay.
What is not to like about watching a Manton Bay sunrise :-) Would be better still if Maya and 33 were there....
Sorry to bombard the thread with sunrises - but this is the scene 10 mins later - really moments in time :-)

Lovely, MARY :) We do get such beautiful sunrises (and other scenes throughout the day) on this nest.
I caught sight of movement - nothing to be seen at all on the non-wide cam.
IMAGICAT
EG on the nest now but I can't stop.
Nest empty again Scylla. Glad the bandits have gone for now :-)
Spoke too soon its back again...
Edit: and thankfully gone again! Come on 33, and Maya! :-)
A crow has been repeatedly digging out the EG's nestcup - now it's chucking bits of lord-knows-what overboard ;-D
Morning all
What a beautiful sunrise this morning, thanks Mary for posting it. And thanks Scylla for the updates.
Perhaps the crow was looking to see if there were any EG eggs burried. Anyway when checking the nest just now, no sign of it so hopefully it has taken itself off.
I wonder where the cormorant has gone ... I looked in last night and no sign of it.

No sign of it all night, KAREN, as far as I noticed.
This must have been the bird I caught sight of earlier - a lovely gull. (No time for enhancements, which it thoroughly deserves.) It was on and off and back on again, and off after I abandoned it.
Oh all right then, just this one brightener and frame:
Goodnight all, have a great day!
I have looked in on the nest periodically throughout the day and the only thing I have seen was a crow which hopped onto the nest, stayed a minute then flew off. No EGs or the cormorant so hopefully they have moved on.
Wrong thread!
