THE LOCH GARTEN GABFEST FOR MARCH AND APRIL, 2017

  • COUNTDOWN FOR  LOCH GARTEN NEST 2017  (WILLOW)

Only  0 days till  EJ'S RETURN  on    Friday March 17th

34 days till ODIN'S RETURN  on Wed April 20th

WILLOW was very accurate in her guess for EJ's return.  Just one wee problem - it was the wrong osprey.  However, the 2017 Osprey Season has started!  The time of watching, waiting and hoping is upon us.

But I do hope she is wrong in her guess of a late date for Odin.  Please excuse me for saying so, Willow.  :)  I would be a nervous wreck by then and who knows what would happening on the nest!?!!

  • LG Cam at night.

I am satisfied so far with our cam.  The picture seems sharp and clear and the colors seem true.  Individual trees can easily be seen beyond the nest. Positioning seems to be good with a bit of sky showing and all of the nest visible.  I do hope the front/near wall is not cutting off too much of the floor of the nest.  Only time will tell, depending to some extent where they make the cup.  Sound seems good, with a very minimum of interference noise.  The rain sounded good this afternoon - just like falling/clunking rain.

  • June, I just had a look at the ukospreys.uk website and on their arrival countdown page they list EJ as having arrived on March 21st and Odin as having arrived on March 27th last year.  I presume that is correct, but I hope someone will let us know if it is not.  With any luck they will both arrive safely and very shortly (and no farther apart than last year!)

    Kind regards, Ann

  • Thanks ann, I will start a 2nd Countdown using these dates as Willows date for EJ has come and gone.

COUNTDOWN FOR  LOCH GARTEN NEST 2017 (ANN)

Only  3 days till  EJ'S RETURN  on    Tuesday March 21st

Only 9 days till ODIN'S RETURN  on Tuesday March 27th.

  • My first osprey sighting of 2017.  LOTL of course.

  • My Live Season started today at LOTL.

Had a trip up and watched LM12 being very busy.

He certainly looked in excellent form flying around breaking off branches in front of the hide and taking them back to the nest.

Then he would take a rest on the nest and just look around his kingdom waiting for his mate to arrive.

The weather was poor and light bad so not good for photos. However I will post these two.

  • Lovely to get on-the-spot reports again. Thank you Keith.  Let's hope it won't be long before Lassie returns.

  • Lovely pictures, Keith.  Wonderful start to the season.

  • Osprey with catch at Arnold Palmer Golf tournament. In upper left players and/or spectators are reflected in the water.

  • June I have been watching the golf from Bay Hill Orlando FL and last week just north of Dunedin Clearwater FL. There has been some great filming of the ospreys nesting and fishing at both Tampa and Orlando. The course I played regularly is only a few miles from Bay Hill and was aptly called Osprey Ridge for its poles and nests lining the fairway. I played Bay Hill last visit.

This is one from The Fairway after hitting my seven iron onto the green. Maybe He/She chirped from The Gallery.

Why do you think I Love Florida Golf :)
