Thanks, Ann
Sorry, June, I took your "that ain't no osprey" comment to be humorous, I didn't get it that you weren't familiar cormorants. Last season was the first time I'd seen them spend time on the nest, sometimes they shared with the dreaded (aww) EGs without fighting :o We got some lovely close-ups, I wish I could remember where I'd put mine :-/

Scylla, glad you took the comment as you did as it was indeed meant to be a wee bit of a joke and in no way was it a question. The name is familiar (now that it has been given to me) and that is the extent of my knowledge. Thanks for the extra info. I don't think they inhabit any area near me.. Will google.
Good evening all. There are lots of cormorants near here in a place called Stodmarsh where in the evening they all roost in a dead tree. Some of the angling community would love to see them culled as they reckon they take too many fish :( Seems to be the answer to everything these days if its a problem, kill it.
Im not sure if this has been happening or not, I hope not.
June sometimes snowdrop bulbs are eaten by mice and might be easier to plant them as young plants "in the green". Ive planted lots and never grown, but for some reason they are spreading around my garden and Ive not planted them! Try planting them as plants and have read they are difficult to grow from bulbs!
AAHHH!! Look what I found.
On the nest cam thread I see that the camera was first on the air about 11:30 am. Now for EJ & Odin to return.

I had set my recorder on it but I was asleep so didn't know the stream had frozen (plus ca change) and missed the deer!
During last night the stream kept going down and I had to put the browser on 2-minute refreshes to be sure not to miss all the amazing visitors there were bound to be if I didn't. There weren't any, of course ;-)
I did get 2 Pine Marten visits late evening tho.
(Presumptuous, me, assuming you'd like to see them.)

The second visit was shorter but a bit better view, and an amusing exit:

Once our birds start returning I'll be locked in the DU so won't be spamming you ;-)
I can't see it, but it sounds like a good solid rain at the nest. With the first osprey returned to the area yesterday afternoon (Thursday March 16th) we are looking forward to our own EJ & Odin coming home any time now. The watch is on.
