Hello Gardenbirder. Oh I do hope Dai Dots returns and is seen again Id become very fond of him, one of my favorites. Very sad he was evicted from his nest :( That is the life of ospreys however and they can be savage fighters ! Hope Monty and Glesni arrive soon. Blue24 cuts a lonely figure looking out over the Dyfi!
Im pleased to see that they are taking the second nest platform down! I think Blue24 captures many peoples hearts and heart breaking to see her return ( after migrating all those miles) only to have her desires thwarted again :(
Evening, Willow, I just keep telling myself that life is tough for Ospreys but at the same time we are fortunate that across the whole country numbers are slowly increasing, despite that! Mortality is high, but they are still growing in numbers. Like you, I also hope all our favourites return (including Dai Dot!), but less than a year after beginning to watch a few nests one of my favourites did not return (male 5R who we had seen at Manton Bay in what turned out to be his last season). But his partner, Maya, continues to return and 2 of their 3 young from 5R's last year were seen back in the UK last year, and one of those has already returned again this year--male 1J). That is much better than the usual odds! Sheer luck (and good genes!) play a huge part in their surviving or not.
Kind regards, Ann
Be strong, Willow! Blue 24 may well have a nest this year. We just have to wait and see!
Past my bedtime, night, night All.
Hope so Gardenbirder but not in the case of Glesni not returning :( Rutland does seem to have quite high return rates especially compared to Loch garten. They seem to be unlucky :(
Good night to you
Clocks have just gone forward! A lot of clock changing tomorrow we have quite a few clocks LOL! Time obsessed!
I've noticed that recently there has only been 4 hour time difference. Now it will go back to 5 hours.
Now she looks green.
