I apologise if this is disturbing to anyone.
Ollie wakes up after Squirt has passed, nudges him, and resettles.

Thanks Pandy. Sad, but I did wonder if the chick had some sort of fatal developmental problem
At Roudsea Wood there is a notice dated 1st August, saying that the one chick is fledged and seen flying near the nest.
I was very sad to hear of Squirt's death. Clearly there was some development problem, but I have no idea what may have caused it, and neither am I qualified to offer an explanation. Thank you for the news and the poignant vid, Pandy. Very touching. I hope the sibling fledged successfully.

There is some feeling that a toxin(s) may have been involved, Ospreys along that same river (also includes Hellgate and Dunrovin) have high mercury levels, which are known to interfere with hatching. An summary can be found here.
Breakfish this morning for the younger chick in Seili, Finland, one of the single-dad nests this season. Both chicks have been very well cared for and look great.

Dad delivers a fish to one chick at the nest, and the other chick has caught his own!
Seili, Finland. Vasuri delivers a fish, and the chicks have a tug of war over it for a full minute!
