Osprey at Hilton Head right now
One of the Hog Island followers has been visiting the area every day and Bailey appears to be happy and healthy. There is a hope she will fledge soon. Today's update
Thanks Lmac - good to hear
Another unusual situation from this season! At a nest in Virginia, a fledgling feeds its injured sibling. Is the analysis accurate?

Hog Island update 4 Aug. from Eric Snyder, platform-building and tower-climbing hero:
"Thank you for your note, and thank you to the entire community for their support. Unfortunately, while building the nest and moving Bailey I did not take any pictures, but here are some that were taken during and after the event. The nest had a large base of spruce sticks and branches woven together. A large mat of green spruce in the center made a nice dish for Baily to stand or sit upon. I hope that the family will rearrange or add to make the nest comfortably their own. I have been keeping an eye on Bailey and indeed she seems to be doing well. We are all hoping to see her take flight soon. Best, Eric"
Calling all osprey development experts:
There is a nest on a crane (the kind used in construction :) ) in MT, owned by Pioneer Log & Timber. You may have heard of the size difference in the two chicks, only 5 days apart in age. Squirt, the smaller one, definitely has a problem with at least his feather development. Can anyone identify what his condition is?

Parent leaving after a fish delivery and/or feeding
Everything crossed for Bailey, she certainly deserves to survive after all that has happened to her.

News from Hog Island, 8 Aug. :)
"News from Eric: "It seems Bailey has made the leap today and fledged. She was standing on the edge of the nest this morning, but the nest is now vacant. We can hope she is honing her fishing skills and strengthening her wings. I am keeping an eye out around campus to glimpse a flyover. - Eric"
Great news Pandy, may she stay safe and make a successful migration.
I just read that Squirt has passed away at the Pioneer Log & Timber nest Pandy mentioned above. Very sad.
