Hi folks, its been a day of contrasts. Eldest has enjoyed his freedom by flying backwards and forward to the camera post and then landing on the nest. The other two have been doing exercising but as yet have not taken their maiden flights.
Only 2 fish late afternoon and then one very small one in the evening. They are keeping them lean and kean so to speak.
Two are asleep on the nest and the eldest is on the cam post, I think.
Happy viewing, see you in the morning.

Barbara Jean: Very interesting videos of chicks with intruders. I'm assuming the piggy who tried to grab the fishes yesterday and attacked EJ was the "bravest" one when reacting to the intruders. It would make sense. Good grief yes. That could' ve been very tricky indeed if the ring-and-bling folks had met that kind of reception!
Well, now I am off to bed now. Two chicks still on nest; I'm thinking that's #1 that's been buzzing the nest - probably waiting for a fish delivery so he/she can grab it!
AQ: I just watched the chicks vs. the intruder video and wondered if EJ was close by but chose to sit back and let them deal with the intruder themselves (probably wouldn't have thought that if I hadn't seen her let them get on with that food fight!) Just a thought. Anyway, really am off to bed now! :-)
EJ with FISH. Two line up. One of them tries the tail end. Ah, here is Greedy down from perch. EJ is feeding them, let's hope fairly.
#2 is not willing to push into the feeding line. It is just walking around looking at the fish. Now It is standing on the outer edge of the nest with EJ between it and the others to avoid the aggressive one. But EJ is not giving it any food , because the other two are grabbing it out of her beak
They are still fighting even with EJ serving the fish. She ripped a large piece off and both of them grabbed it and had a tugging contest . Greedy got it away from Titch
EJ just gave the eldest a very large piece to work on to shut it up LOL
The fish is EJ's usual large one so there should be enough to go around
After yesterdays ruckus she may have thought better of letting them get too hungry
Formerly known as Barbara Jean
I'm urging #2 on to demand his rights! Hopefully the other two will fill up before the fish is gone and give #2 a chance.
One has what my mother used to say "elegant sufficiency" and has wandered off to housekeep.
One walked away and came back. After yesterdays lack of food they are quickly grabbing the bits that fall on the nest. They realize what it feels like to be hungry and are not wiling to be wasteful
#2 is getting some now too . It is grabbing it out of EJ's beak before the others do
One is full and walked away . #3 is still taking bits , but not grabbing them as it did before .EJ is feeding more to #2 . It looks like they will all have a good feed
I am cheering #2 on to get it's share too! However, last year someone said that EJ will feed the most aggressive ones, with the idea they will have the best chance to survive.
The fish is gone
They have all wandered off. EJ is finishing whatever is left. Now the GEMs are considering redecorating - that stick is just not right. LOL. EJ on her usual perch - briefly - and she flies off.
EJ alarm calling in distance. Two lie down, slowly. Third finally joins them. EJ back on nest mantling and alarm calling. #1 is not afraid on much, is he?
EJ quietened for a while. Then the intruder must have flown over the nest just now. Radio Chaffinch insn't bothered.
