Hello from very icy Indiana.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!!!

  • My mother fed us with a teaspoon of brandy for upset tums when young. Brandy & whisky are medicinal only, sez I.

  • LOL! AQ!!

My OH certainly swears by using whisky when he has a cold!

  • My Mum gave  us whisky in our milk - can't remember why. And I seem to remember milk with pepper in it?!?  When my family was here last year I wanted to buy my BiL something to sip on in the evenings and couldn't figure out what the heck all the whiskies were about, so settled for Chivas, which he didn't seem to have any problems with.  Gosh - a long sentence with a dangling whatnot.

Keith: Good you've got at least one professional (I assume?) to help, but how often does she/he come?  Do hope the vehicle arrives on time, if not before...  Take care

AQ; Good luck with the tomatoes and the "expired" sheets.  :-))  We have some of those too (with more in the offing I anticipate). We have two days of sun with very cool breezes, then five days of rain forecast!

    Off to yoga.

  • Diane - thanks for starting us up and nice to see you back with us.   Do hope that you shake off the pneumonia soon and be back to your ol' self.  Love the bird or "osprey"

Hi AQ, Annette, Lindybird and all of you , hope you are well despite the miserable weather but after all it is winter. Not long now to Osprey season.  Love the pic of the baby giraffe one of my favourite animals.

This was taken in Kruger in 2008

  • Wendyb - hope you are not too bad and do whatever takes your fancy to help you through this sad time.   Obviously family are trying to keep you busy and help in what way they can but sometimes you just want to be by yourself.  Take care.

  • Apparently La La Land has topped the box office records and is selling out fast. Sounds as though it could be a good film.

Went to dentist today for annual checkup - just a bit of a clean but nothing else, till next year.  Off to the gym after having routine blood test for a couple of things and then pm our Womens Own meeting where our own minister will be talking.

I remember my mum smothering a bit of flannel with vic and putting on ones chest to help alleviate a cold.

Take care all and thinking of Margo, and Brenda who is unwell so I believe.

My mother would put camphorated oil on my chest.  It was a sight better than the evil cough medicine she'd give me.

Good morning, all!  We've got a busy day today - Limpy has a check-up at the doctor's, but what he's really dreading is the dental surgery this evening - he's having two teeth out.  I hope it all goes smoothly.

Our thoughts to Margo, Heather and Brenda.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Good Morning.  Dull damp & dreary again, here.....still, at least we're half way through the dreaded month of January.....

Clare -- Please pass on my {HUGS} to Limpy - he seems to be going through a rough patch just now.  Perhaps he'll be better off without those teeth!

My OH has gone off to his golf game. I like mornings when I can just float around the house on my own. I still seem to get things done, maybe because he's not interrupting me! ("Where is..... ?" ......"What did you do with......?" etc....)

  • Thinking, too of Heather, Margo and Brenda.

I have not contacted or tried to contact Brenda for fear she is too poorly. I do hope she's home now or about to go home.

  • Nearly forgot -- here's today's cheerful pic:
