WEEKLY CHAT (NON-OSPREY) SUNDAY JANUARY 8 2017

Morning all. Here's to a good week for all.

  • Good evening, all.  I made it to an afternoon shift at Minsmere today, though you can imagine I drove very carefully in the increasing snow!  I didn't go any further than the Visitor Centre, though, so all of my photos are from the feeders.  If you click on this lovely female pheasant you'll see some more:

    Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

    Bracing ourselves for the predicted flooding at around midday

    I messaged LIMPY and then thought "Oh I know where to find Clare!" ... so here I am, checking up on you ;-)

    It sounds hopeful that you won't be disrupted or endangered, I've got all digits crossed for you and dear family :-*

    [/quote]Scylla, how enormously kind.  We're at no risk where we are - it's places like Felixstowe Ferry which will bear the brunt of the flooding.  They're forecasting another very high tide around midnight, and the wind here has really picked up.  I hope it won't be as bad as expected.

    At least the snow didn't last long here.

  • Hello everyone Beautiful photos as usual Clare. I am praying that the predicted storm surge does not happen as my cottage here in Aldeburgh is right in the middle of the estimated flooding of the River Alde and marshes. We had the Police come into the office today,in Aldeburgh High Street to give advice and I can evacuate to a nearby Leisure Centre but according to my landlord the cottage has never flooded before so I will move as much as I can upstairs and see what happens. As you are all such a special bunch of people - if you can all say a prayer for me I'm sure I will be fine.I will report tomorrow morning! Also thinking of all those that have far more to cope with than a bit of water.

  • Blimey.  Keeping everything crossed for you, Harelady.

  • Keep safe, and dry, too Harelady {{HUGS}}

  • Nice snowy pics from Minsmere, Clare. My OH says at these times "Its two hat weather!" (He wears two woolly hats at once!)

  • Ditto from me, HARELADY. Yes, please let us know how things go. Will be thinking about you.

  • I hope East Coast friends all stay safe tonight – special thoughts for HARELADY!

    CLARE - I see Minsmere is mentioned in flood warnings tonight!

    Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
