Unknown said: Utterly destroyed is what report says. I will be up with the next two weeks so I will go look. Report says rebuilding at beginning March by Abernethy team. Volunteers will stick and branch gather. It's says reconstruct as nest blown down so I am assuming just the nest. Will update when I swing past and take a snap or two

So it has arrived. The last osprey free month. Amazingly how quickly it comes around.
By this time next month the ospreys will be on their way north.
Here is the osprey news bulletin for February 2017
Thanks, Tiger, not long now.
Kind regards, Ann
Looking forward to Lmac's update on LI. Thank you Keith, for your comment.

For those who follow FB, the RSPB Operation Osprey page has been renamed: RSPB Loch Garten, Abernethy and can be followed here
Only 40 days to go!!!!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Hello hope you are all well. I took a quick detour on my dog walk today around to Loch Insh. As you will see it is just the nest that is lost, the tree and supporting branches all appear to be intact. I am glad that RSPB are going to rebuild. I haven't looked at Sue's chart but Green DY (whose nest I am pretty certain this is) must be quite an age and I would hate for her return to no nest and have to rebuild (humanising and the season has not even started yet :) ....)
This is a very zoomed in from 2015 at almost the same angle to let you see, what is missing - maybe one of planks of wood gone also
