Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey), 1 January 2017

  • Lidybird, thank you for the update. Let's hope that Margo can get some help.

  • Good Morning, Everyone.  I went to bed late last night and just came on at the last minute with news of dear Margo. As Mike says,  lets hope that things can improve for her.

Dampish here, but forecast dry later and not too cold until night, when we are due a couple of really chilly nights to come.

I'm going to take a couple of pics of my decs today before we take it all down. I have a wreath on the front door, plus two inside, and lots of greenery draped around every mirror and picture. One box contains crockery with Christmassy designs - another box has China ornaments with same. There is a large candle bridge in the front window, and a couple of stuffed reindeer in the kitchen!

Off to visit relatives this morning and compare notes on our respective grandchildren. I shall be telling them about Amber, (aged just two) who is into dinosaurs already, and was given a boxful of plastic models as a present. Within five minutes, she was going around the room with them, saying not only "dinosaur" with much glee, but also demanding to know which was Diplodocus!! I have warned her parents that she is going to be a real handful!

People shopping in their nightwear!?  Are you kidding?!  And would they pleased get dressed before they visit the school?  Eeeek!

Sad, isn't it?  Check this story out.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Dear All

Thanks for your thoughts which as always make me so grateful to have such wonderful friends.

i have felt so ill and worried over the past couple weeks. Managed a very small lunch Christmas Day which OH had cooked beautifully. He does all the cooking now. From Boxing Day onwards I existed on soup and a jacket potato. By the time we got to the hospital yesterday I could hardly breath. Consultant immediately upped units of blood and arranged for a platelets transfusion. I also had a PICC line inserted which had already been arranged. This means no more trying to find veins which was ever more difficult. Very long day though, in total 11 hours. Feeling marginally better as I can now breath better and hopefully will be able to start eating properly. I think this is the most frightened I have felt since I ws diagnosed and I know OH was so worried. District Nuse will be coming to change the dressing today and thereafter every Monday. She will also do the blood tests required every two weeks. How lucky we are to have such a good service from the NHS.

Sorry no specific mentions but so far behind as I did not look in very much. hope you are all well.

Pleased that every one enjoyed their Christmas. It seems unreal that it is 2017 already. Hope this year is a good one for all.

Take care all, I am always thinking of you.

    Margo x

  • Good to hear from you, Margo. What a long day for you both.

It sounds as if it will be easier now, for them to treat you, without having to find a vein every time. I do hope you feel the benefit of the treatment soon.

Lots of love and HUGS from us All on here.

  • Margo, sending healing thoughts and prayers through the ether to you.  Hope you soon get back to eating more normally, and can build up your strength.  I do hope 2017 is kind to you.

  • Thinking of Margo - and Diane and Heather.

Been sorting through Ch cards for recycling at one of the shops - kept the ones with family information and those needing some sort of response.

J is out today - last day of his hol, so gone to Carlisle as he sometimes does on a Wednesday.  We spent another half hour in greenhouse (enough standing for me) tidying and cleaning things which got dumped in there late autumn!  And OH pruned the Sambuca - much to the disgust of the Robin and Chaffinches - don't think the Dunnocks have seen it yet!

Having leftover roast turkey (from freezer), "with trimmings", for end of holiday dinner this evening.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Margo: Gosh an 11-hour day at the hospital! But it's no wonder you've felt so bad after what you've been through recently. Again, it's good to know that your medical team is on the ball and that the PICC line will make things easier; hope you'll feel even better in the next day or so. Hugs to you - and  your super OH!

Clare: Thanks (I think!) for that link but gosh - where have all the grown ups gone?

  • Good evening, all.  We went to a lovely park in Ipswich today - click on this colourful bird to see more:
