WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY DECEMBER 25 2016

Don't think my last post posted, so here it is again.

OK, well, Christmas dinner eaten and gifts given and received, so tomorrow we're going to relax and do Nothing!

Meanwhile, the very best wishes of the season to all the dear people on this thread, lurkers included.

EDIT; But now I see it did. Not sure it's me or the site that's not with it!

  • Good Afternoon - we're back.  Had a good journey down South, but after a lovely family visit, had a l o o n g journey home again today - we took just 2 & three quarter hours to get there on Tuesday, but over 4 & three quarter hours to return on the same journey today!

We encountered queues, oil spills being cleaned up, roadworks, queues, an accident, fog patches and....more queues!

  • Sorry you had  such a stressful journey LINDY.

Blimey.  I can promise it wasn't down to Limpy's driving!

Good to see you back, especially with your sense of humour intact.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Thanks, Clare!  - takes a lot to make me stop seeing the funny side!

Got to find the time to look back on your pics - I've been too busy since we got in.

See that poor AQ is still sweltering. The gleamingly white frost this morning on our journey was a poetic sight to behold, all the deep hedgerows and bare trees looking for all the world like an arty Christmas card.

Sorry, Lindy.....I've just posted some more!  Click on these three comedians to see some more:

  • Great photos, Clare, and your captions/comments set them off beautifully.

Food shops this morn very quiet. A few people with overloaded piled-high trolleys. I arrived home with my fruit/veg top-up before the first of "shower or two". Oh so much cooler today, currently 20 C.

    Thank you!  I try.

They're probably getting ready for the month-long siege known as New Year's Day.  Do all your shops close then?

Glad it's cooled down for you.  It sounded monstrously uncomfortable when the temperatures were so high.

  • I'm off to Minsmere today for my last Reception stint of the year - the weather conditions promise to be interesting!

  • Enjoy your Minsmere stint, Clare.

Good Morning, All.  So enjoyed a night in my own bed! It's very cold here today. I'm off to stock up on bread etc.

Felt much better once the anti biotics kicked in, but then had a job keeping my eyes open all of Christmas, so they must have affected me in some way. Lovely to see our family: Youngest once again brought his family over for lunch, from where they were staying at his in laws, so lots of fun and present exchanges.

Hope everyone on here has had a pleasant time.

  • Thank you so much for the pictures, Clare.  I really enjoy seeing the birds through your lens - I probably need to get out more!

Yes, the siege mentality has kicked in again.  Every year I am amazed at the fact that although the shops are only closed for one day people buy as though they will be closed for a month.  And they do it again less than a week later ... mind you, I bought far too much earlier in the week, but only because there were so many bargains.  Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
