WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY DECEMBER 25 2016

Don't think my last post posted, so here it is again.

OK, well, Christmas dinner eaten and gifts given and received, so tomorrow we're going to relax and do Nothing!

Meanwhile, the very best wishes of the season to all the dear people on this thread, lurkers included.

EDIT; But now I see it did. Not sure it's me or the site that's not with it!

  • Family is departing in shifts. Will catch up later.

  • What lovely photos, Clare, and what a beautiful day for your trip.  Did you sample the fish and chips?

  • No - the little caff was shut for Christmas.  Thankfully.

Their chips are lovely when they're open, by the way.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • CLARE  loved your family photos, thank you.

We got back from our Christmas break this afternoon. We had a lovely time. Benson was well behaved. He was among friends as there were 8 dogs staying in the hotel. Dogs are allowed in one of the reception lounges so everything was very homely.

  • Evening, all!  I had a lovely day at Lakenheath - if you click on this gorgeous blue tit you'll see my photos:

  • Overnight SA had a “significant weather event” with the arrival of a tropical storm, strong winds & heavy rain. We had 2 ins rain. It was pelting against the windows, even those under the verandah. Others are much worse off with flooding, trees down, power outages. Some 125,000 across state still without power and may have to wait 24 hours. What happened to our hot dry summer? I was so tired I went back to bed after breakfast and slept until it was time to get lunch. Meanwhile OH is watching TV, or is he snoozing?

  • Blimey, it's been quiet on here today.  I've had a lovely day at Minsmere - and I managed to quickly pop to one of the hides on the Scrape to get a few photos.  Click on the little egret to see a few more:

There are a few more if you click on this blackbird:

  • Yes, CLARE, very quiet here today. I think everyone must have been shopping the Sales or recovering from overindulgence...

Your pics are great, you seem to have a talent for catching the right moment.

Youngest family are here, will go home tomorrow.

  • Tried to get to the sales today.  Drove around two car parks, no spaces.  So went to Tesco instead - and spent far too much money because so many things I fancied were reduced!  I wonder if I'll bother to try again tomorrow?  Probably not ...

Thank you for your lovely photographs, Clare.  I haven't been to Minsmere for far too long.  Must do something about that.

  • Sales?  Not me!  No way!  Just busy - had elder Daughter and family here today.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
