Heather - that seems good advice, to wait until things settle down before buying any walking aids. I do hope they can get to the bottom of it soon.
Hope Margo feels stronger today, after her transfusion.
Physio phoned. She will visit on Monday morning to assess OH for balance and mobility. She gave me pointers over the phone so I will follow her instructions!!
Glad that you enjoyed your cinema visit, LINDY. Your friend and her OH should have a great time in London.
Morning all: Thanks for TxGiving wishes; we are being very low key today and due to one thing and several others are getting together with daughter for an easy meal here tomorrow.
Heather: I was imagining your garden path a lot like my sister's - crazy paving, uneven, an accident waiting to happen. Good that physio will assess your OH for appropriate aids.
Lindybird: I've heard that movie is good; as usual, will probably wait for the DVD and then get it from the library.
Brenda: Nice that you and Margo can chat; do hope the transfusion has helped her just a bit.
Lightning seems better today, what with ABs and insulin shots.
Back later.
LINDY Have that film only list, so good to know you enjoyed it.. Your friends visit to London sounds as if she will have a great birthday treat.
HEATHER The Red Cross will let you have free use of a wheel chair and a donation when you return it. I had mine for 8 weeks after breaking my leg.
OG/EE safe journey and enjoy your weekend.
The good news is that my implants can go ahead. The bad news is that it is of course at an eye watering cost. I could have started on 20th Dec, but didn't fancy going away for Christmas having just had a wisdom tooth extracted and stitches from the implant work begun. I have opted to start on Jan 24th, so plenty of time to chicken to if my wallet gets cold feet.
Must go and feed our friend. bye for now,
Good that Lightning is feeling better, Annette. At least you have done all you can for her.
If you're doing an "easy meal," does that mean that you're not having the traditional kind of thing?
I've just spent half an hour with my pics: its been frustrating not to have the time to come on here and finish my saga of the cruise. I did start one day, but nothing was posting which was soo annoying.
Meanwhile, here are a couple of the masses of red berries on our holly tree in the front garden at the moment:
Gorgeous and so seasonal Lindybird. No we'll do a modified TxGiving dinner (two turkeys within 30 days of each other is too much). I'll have everyone here for Xmas, so a big deal then...
Hello all, just got a breathing space as I seem to be rather organised for dinner tonight. My thoughts go out to all those suffering, especially Heather and OH. I also have a problem with balance, having two falls this year, the last one taking time to heal. I had a lot of back bruising and it has taken until now, three weeks on, to be able to hold my head up without support. It was a struggle but every day shows a slight improvement. A week ago we paid off Revenue and Customs so we can now handle my brother's estate in our own time without worrying about paying them interest.
Now the main reason for this post is about something I found entirely by accident, while browsing the BBC website. It is called Changing Places and is led by Mencap (obviously UK only I'm afraid). The theory is that there are at least ¼million disabled who cannot adequately access disabled toilets, a group which we are in. The government introduced a specification which defines what should be provided by 'large oganisations'. This is a pedestal toile with space for a carer on each side, a height adjustable normally adult sized changing table, usual washing facilities AND a hoist covering the toilet and changing area. While this may not help some of those on this forum you may know somebody who could benefit. For us it has immediately allowed us to visit Newport Wetlands managed by RSPB as there is one in Newport,as well as Cardiff and Hereford. In Scotland we can spend time in Inverness as there are three there. Link is http://www.changing-places.org/. There are currently 895 of the around the UK with a further 100 in the pipeline. The government is also changing this from a recommendation to a legal regulation. I hope this may help someone.
Thank you, Keith.
Dibnlib-- Good that they can do your implants, but you're very wise to wait until after the festivities before having it done.
Heather - The film was very clever, but quite frightening and dark in parts, so there was a notice in the foyer of the cinema warning that children under 12 would not be admitted without an adult. Personally, I wouldn't have let any child that young in to see it! It's been reported that J K Rowling may write more of these films, if this one is well received.
Keith - Nice to hear from you. You must be relieved that you've got this far with administering your brothers estate. Not an easy task. I saw that item on the Internet, about the public toilets. About time someone addressed the problem. There is also another organisation which is campaigning to stop the closure of the existing toilets in many towns, where local councils are struggling to pay for their upkeep. Some elderly people are finding it hard to even go shopping if there is nowhere for a "comfort stop" - and this week, some folks were also complaining "where have all the benches gone?" as there are nothing like as many nowadays in public spaces......
Lindy: I can assure you that we appreciate the problem. In Monmouth there is only one seat on one side on Hilly road!
