Hope the new week is kind to all...
Lindybird: How distressing for your friends who moved to a town house. My sister and BiL have a lovely house in the country but are thinking they should be closer to services/family - all in Bucks - and are very concerned about the options.
Lynette: Was this your former family home that's listed and has been in limbo for a year? You mention a landlord who went broke....
Hot here these last couple of days and more to come, but still, we've had a nice summer. Got my "project" table in from the garage tonight with an eye to starting on the dreaded sorting and culling of photos taken over the last - um - decade.
It was granddaughter's birthday today. She went out with her coworkers last night but didn't have a great time. She now works with people in detox treatment and apparently saw too many party types throwing back the booze who reminded her of her clients.
Anyway, best thoughts for all for the coming week.
Quite right, Heather. I liked the lilac uniforms. Bonnie caps? They arrived from the laundry in a very stiff semi-circle and had to be gathered up and pleated. A right pain if you had forgotten to do this the night before, and were on duty early morning. I think some hospitals had simpler ones (and some worse, with a sort of fan)
I seem to remember there were two nurses in our 'set' who were doing combined psych/general nursing. This was early sixties.
Interesting photos, Clare. I also like the Wetlands Centre, but have not been there for a while. You have reminded me.
Clare Bailey said: Good evening, all. Just got back from a day at the London Wetlands Centre and I'm absolutely knackered. What a great place....only problem now is sorting through 1,127 photos! Also met the excellent Chocoholix and Stingray - not to mention Chocoholix Senior.

Great to see you Clare! Great chatting all about ospreys with you & Stingray today too. Hope your journey home was OK.
Your reference to Chocoholix Senior made me giggle! I don't think anyone's ever referred to my mum as that before!!!

Evening all: 97F here today - very hot - the hottest all summer, except it's officially fall. Still, not unusual at this time of year.
Heather: So sorry to hear your OH is having such a frustrating time, with such difficult repercussions.
Lindybird: I like cropped pants too; have about four pairs. I have some good full length pants too, but only for those chilly California days. :-)) My OH wouldn't tolerate me packing his clothes! He also takes care of his own toothpaste, etc (not that we ever go anywhere!).
Rosy: Sounds like a nice few days away visiting the old neighborhood!
Clare: I only know Charing Cross from the train station. We used to take the train to Folkestone from there during summer holidays. Great pix!
OG: You're doing your social butterfly act again! Zooming hither and yon - good for you. :-)
Sending Diane and Margo best ever thoughts....
Hope Monday is kind to all...
I used to live a couple of miles from the London Wetland Centre and visited often. Lovely place. Haven't been since I moved fourteen years ago - must go back sometime. Arundel is a bit closer now.
Good Morning, All. Dull here, & a wet day forecast.
Have seen the London Wetlands Centre on TV and it looks great, would love to go. Glad you had such a good day, Clare, and met Chocoholix, too!
Annette - That sounds very hot! Especially for the time of year.
Love the London Wetlands Centre, sued to be a member when I lived near. Such a calm oasis in the middle of London.
Hello all, happy new week. Just watching live safari from Djuma and they are focusing on a black bellied bustard
just thought I'd show it, beautiful bird.

RSPB Giving Nature a Home
Hello Annette, yes it is. Apparently the landlord has offloaded another property so we hope it is all systems go to complete the renovations. Brother still living there.
Clare, what a great day out you must have had. Glad you were able to meet up with a couple of fellow bloggers.
Re family house - Brother is still living in it and paying his rent faithfully every month. We still hope to go up at Christmas but its all in the lap of the gods that the work gets finished. Fingers crossed.
Lindybird, it must be exciting now you are close to going on your cruise. At least most things are to hand these days on the ships.
