Hallo all. Off to eat pizza and drink wine. Back later.
I haven't opened my computer for the last few days, so I am sorry for my lack of posts. Son and his wife arrive tomorrow and we will join them at daughters house. Daughter-in- law will see the consultant on Friday and then our daughter will get married on Saturday.
I have read all your news, but please forgive me for not replying. I will probably not be on here again until next week.
Best wishes to you ALL and enjoy yourselves.
Margo – Great to read your long and upbeat post. Your wonderful OH getting a few hours work will keep him "in the loop". As always lots of {{{HUGS}}}

Thinking of Diane & her brother. No news is good news???
I haven’t been out in the garden again as it has been raining all week. Yesterday was a dreadful stormy day with gales and flooding in many areas (not us). Landslides in hills & floods closed some roads. At Rapid Bay on Fleurieu Peninsula 32 children & 6 teachers had to be brought out by a council digger as a creek flooded the only access road. The school was on safe ground, the children would have enjoyed staying the night but the teachers I’m sure would have wanted to go home! I braved the weather twice, first for food shop, then for Physio. She doesn’t want to see me for 2 months. So far today, nearly 7 am, looks like a fine day.
Brenda, I hope all goes well for your daughter-in-law on Friday.
Best wishes to all your family for Saturday, and have a wonderful time.
Goodness, BRENDA. No wonder you've not had time to be on your pc!
I will be thinking of your d.in.law on Friday, and hope all goes well. Then perhaps you will all be able to relax and enjoy the Wedding on Saturday. Best Wishes to the happy couple.
Evening all: Got an e-mail from Diane. Situation with her brother is progressing slowly with short term goals for now. She's still at the hospital...
BrendaH: Sounds like a busy family weekend with lots going on. Don't worry about posting; but let us know how things go.
AQ: You're an inspiration! No physio for two months; you must be doing everything right.
Have a good Thursday everyone.
OK, well Diane e-mailed me again to say I could pass on more info about her brother. She feels really bad about posting bad news and has been reluctant to do so, so here's the condensed version: As you all know, her brother was hospitalized in July with suspected diabetes complications. He was released, then readmitted. (This was all in his home town.) At that point, they diagnosed gastroparesis (paralysis of stomach nerves and muscles) based on his diabetic history. He was unable to eat at all and was losing weight fast. After a lot of back and forth, he was sent to an acute care facility in Indianapolis and was able - finally - to see a specialist who immediately diagnosed a bowel obstruction. That gave everyone some hope that it could be dealt with relatively easily. However, more tests revealed pancreatic cancer, advanced and inoperable. Surgery (the very risky operation OG told us about) was done to bypass the tumor and allow him to eat. He's opted for chemo - Diane says for his family's sake; he has two children - but he needs to be strong enough for that. At this point, the expectation/hope is that he will be sent home (with hospice care) when he's stronger and can start the treatment. Poor Diane has been at the hospital - a top teaching/research hospital - for 14 days, sleeping on couches and chairs in visitors' lounges and on a pew in the chapel at one point while her brother was in ICU. He's now in a room with what sounds like a reclining chair/cot where she's sleeping, but you can imagine that would get old after just one night. She's planning on staying at the hospital until he's released. Obviously, she's exhausted and sore and very anxious. It's awful she has nobody to lean on and we're all so far away...
Many people on here are having a bumpy year; let's keep them all in our thoughts...
Good Morning, Everyone. Many thanks to Annette for patiently explaining Diane's brothers predicament. It sounds awful, both for him and his family, and poor Diane must be struggling without a proper bed or place to rest. My thoughts are with them all.
Annette thanks for giving us news from Diane about her brother. What a terrible situation she must be so exhausted. My thought are with all the family.
ANNETTE - thanks for your post re Diane's news; you summarised it so well.
I'll come back later.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Our thoughts are also with Diane and her brother. I hope he'll soon be strong enough to take the chemotherapy.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
