WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 11 2016

Hallo all.  Off to eat pizza and drink wine. Back later.

  • Hi, all.  Still warm and windy, but occasional light showers – just enough to prevent outside work, but not enough to water the garden.  OH shopped locally, then picked beans for me to slice for freezing; this afternoon he has taken my scooter for servicing and is buying a pane of glass for the greenhouse (one was “mysteriously” broken when we came back from Northumberland).  I should really be ironing now, but am sitting here with a mug of hot chocolate instead.

Clare – pleased to see you two are still enjoying Minsmere and seeing some great birds.

Linda – sounded like you were enjoying a lovely weekend.  I hope those meds have worked and that you will get good advice from your doctor.  Pleased you have enjoyed cake and shopping this morning.  Safe travel tomorrow!

AQ – good luck with the everlasting jumper!  Sounds as if that stool was much too low for the knees – do be careful.  The weeds can wait – maybe summer will burn them off!

Annette – clean house sounds very pleasing, but you always seem too busy to enjoy it!

Dibnlib – hadn’t realised your OH was having such trouble with his heart – must have been when I was lurking; no wonder he isn’t driving to Abingdon.  Hope you are having a good time with your Fife friends today (within Benson’s leg-strain limits) – and nice that you can look forward to seeing old friends down south when you go for the plane home after family visit.

Lynette – wow, it seems so little time since you reported OH’s first match of the season, and now it is ending!  Have a good swim tomorrow.

Keith/ForestBoar – good to hear from you again, and pleased the trip to LG was so good, but sorry about your OH’s deterioration (good idea to get the hoist to make life easier for you both) and your asthma.

    Ironing is calling!  Must go.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • More wonderful news. Dodgy Dave gone for good.

BREAKING: David Cameron to resign immediately as an MP

  • Mr. Petrie - it really is time you got the message that we don't want your type of political comments on this thread.

  • Speaking for myself, I don't mind the occasional political outburst; after all, we have the even scarier prospect of Donald Trump on our side of the Pond.  :-)

  • Annette - Scary is right!!!! I also don't mind the occasional political outburst. The people on this thread are very tolerant.

  • I'm not a political animal, but it's part of life so I guess it has a place here.  After all, we don't have to agree!  There are times when I'm glad I live this side of the Pond - particularly right now!

  • Pat O: At this point, I'd probably be bobbing up and down halfway across with no idea which way to go - oh wait - there's always Canada; they seem reasonable.  :-)

  • Hey, where is everyone?  I hope all is well!

Just written a letter to genealogy cousin - his eightieth birthday this Friday.  OH has been fitting new pane of glass in greenhouse - had to remove two others to slide it to the bottom, but all safely in place now.

Fine morning and rain later, so may leave indoor jobs to the afternoon and get some garden tidying done - not that I can do much, but I can still supervise!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • I'm on holiday in Torquay - and it's very wet indeed, with occasional claps of thunder.  I wonder what the local bowls clubs do when there is torrential rain ... we are supposed to be playing matches on three consecutive days.  Ho hum ... there may be long 'teas', plenty of chat and not a lot of bowls!  I don't do bowls in the rain - played on Finals Day last Saturday in torrential rain and couldn't get anything going in the right direction at the right pace.  More rain forecast for later ...
