WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 11 2016

Hallo all.  Off to eat pizza and drink wine. Back later.

  • Some nice pics CLARE  thank you.

  • Thanks, CLARE!  You've been enjoying yourselves, I can tell!!   Lovely pics - I liked the 'shady character!"

  • I'm struggling to post - I had problems yesterday. Sometimes it looks as if nothing will happen, then my post magically appears!

Had a good day today - went for a walk with lovely views of the coast this morning, then stopped for a hot chocolate in a nice cafe. Bonnie had rolled in something, though, and had to be washed with a bucket of warm water when we got back!  We 'rested' this afternoon, as the sun came out and it was even warm enough to sit outside. Just cooked some nice Welsh lamb and my OH has enjoyed a glass of red with it.

  • Annette – Glad you had a trip around our state. The Adelaide Hills towns are only ½ hour or so up the Freeway (depending where in city one lives – longer for me). Boutique B&Bs (expensive) & restaurants. Hahndorf, an old German town, is a kitsch touristy place but has a great bakery. Lobethal, another great bakery, is famous for its C-mas light displays. Mannum’s main street is Randell St - yes the one with the lacework verandahs on hotels. Such lacework features on many SA buildings. Try Googling “wrought iron verandah lace” and look as Images. I forgot, yet again, to answer your question what am I to do now knitted dogs finished. I have reverted to my dusky pink 8-ply jumper, raglan, plain except for bands which are braided rib. It will be ready for next winter. Note that now it is spring here!

    .

I had a brainwave on Saturday, took my step-stool into vegie patch to sit on while weeding. In ½ hour I moved 4 times, each time it was harder to get up from such a low seat. My knee was not happy, so weeds will have to flourish a little longer as I must be fit for next Sunday’s bus trip.

  • G'day all. Kitchen sparkling. Hope OH doesn't want me to cook anything for a week or two.  :-)

Keith/AKA ForestBoar. Good to see you and to know you had a good time in the Cairngorms and that the Probate issue seems to be settled (she said, not nothing much about probate procedures in the UK!). Do take care with your increased responsibilities at home; that must be so hard on both of you.  I didn't develop allergies until I was in my mid-30s and I've heard of late-onset asthma. Hope the weather stays nice so you can make a few more trips out and about.

Rosy: I'm used to talking to myself - but I know it'll be after lunch at the earliest before I join in chats on your side of the Pond.

dibnlib: Hope you get another chance soon to see your RAF buddies.

OG: Have no idea why, for the second year, my tomato plants have been so puny, especially as I've been using a much-touted organic planting mix. Maybe I'll go back to the old cheap and cheerful stuff next year.

Clare: Sounds like a lovely day for you guys.

Lindybird: I've had the same issues with posts - they don't seem to load but then when I try again I get a message telling me there's an identical post.

AQ: Saw Hahndorf and noticed trendy looking eatery.  Love that verandah lace work, but have just realized what fun it must be to clean/paint... hmmm. Yes, next Sunday's bus trip is a must. Don't worry about the weeds, they aren't going anywhere.  :-(

BrendaH: Did you get to see the family?

Hope Margo is doing okay and that her sister is being taken care of; also that Diane is managing to rest somewhat....

Off to smile at my clean house.  :-)

  • Good Morning.  Warm & windy here, and it's just started showering. We're told it's going to be very warm indeed in the UK for the next few days.

Just getting to the end of my meds for my infection, so hoping that'll be the end of things. Expect I will get a message from my GP to discuss it when I get home. I feel soo much better now, thank goodness.

Thinking of Diane, who must be very tired now, and as Annette says, Margo and her sister.

Enjoy that clean feeling, Annette! Hope it lasts for a while, at least!

  • KEITH   Good to hear from you. Glad things are going in the right direction, apart from the asthma of course. OH developed it in his late 40s

OH not long back from Raigmore. Consultant is convinced his heart condition is because of a high fever some months ago. He has decided that the electric shock treatment in a couple months time is the way to go.

Benson also has a medical appt..... later today. yesterday morning he was racing up the stairs as if there was no tomorrow, but in the evening and this morning he has been reluctant, so either he has pulled a muscle or it is an anal gland problem. I am obviously the only fit person in this household. We had hoped to have a nice long walk with Benson and our friends, but I think it will just be a little potter.  Lunch will be cos cos, prawns, asparagus and lime. Also some spicy chicken pieces.  Pud is a relish Mary Berry summer fruit pud. It is my staple for guests at the mo. School friend doesn't eat much. Her OH reckons she doesn't eat enough to feed a sparrow.

ANNETTE   We have now arranged to meet RAF friends on our return journey, so looking forward to that.

  • Dibnlib --  See that your OH has had expert advice. Hope the treatment helps. I think you're possibly right about Benson, dogs often pull a muscle in their enthusiasm. Enjoy your yummy sounding lunch!

We've been for a coffee at our favourite garden centre, here. They have already cordoned off an area for their enormous Ch*****s lights display! We only had a drink, but brought away two cakes to eat later......  I also bought some small toys to put into the g'childrens Chr*****s stockings! Plus some multi headed daffs to put in my tub by the front door at home.

  • We're thinking of packing tonight, and going home early tomorrow, as it sounds hot so we might as well be hot at home, where there is a lot waiting to be done, rather than lazing here.  I never want to leave here once I'm ensconced, it's so restful!

  • Hi all.  After a very miserable wet day yesterday, today is breezy, cloudy and sunny - lovely for getting the washing dry. OH is at cricket, last match of the season, doing his commentating in between a hospital appointment (which turns out nothing to worry about).

Annette - glad you enjoyed your pizza and wine.

Keith - hope you enjoyed your Sunday lunch. Do my own roast as I'm not keen on dinners at local pubs.   Glad you enjoyed your break in the Cairngorms .

Hi, OG, Lindybird, Dibnlib, Rosy, and anyone else I've forgotten.

Off to the gym for a swim tomorrow. Not too much happening here.

Margo - hope you are feeling as well as you can be.
