AUGUST sneaked up on me, but apparently no one noticed.
August is my least favorite month, considering the too hot, too humid weather here in southwest Ohio.
In the osprey world, AUGUST is the month for all our ospreys to start their migrations. Willow and Rowan will be starting their long journey to Africa which will be their home for the next two years. They have not been tagged, so we have no way of following their progress or lack thereof. GOOD LUCK to them as they start this long difficult journey, to all the other juveniles we are following, as well as best wishes for their parents and all ospreys known or unknown.
Love your bear pic and the water :) Love all these wildlife cams around now. Im not able to watch them as we have such limited broad band. It can only be a good thing for wild life as the more we know the more we can help to protect them. Look how much has been learned about ospreys and their behaviour. Absolutely fascinating :)
Yes they have learned enough to change their story just since I have been watching for 8 or 9 years. They used to say "mate for life" and Juveniles return in 3 years. Now we know they often return the second spring and mating is pretty much "first come, first served" or whoever happens to be most convenient at the moment. :(
Here it is hot & humid enough, often enough that air conditioning is common in public buildings, cars, and homes. And I am very grateful for it. Not only does AC cool, it also removes moisture. I sometimes have it on for humidity control even when it is not excessively hot.
Keith is definitely one of those "I've Been Everywhere" people, although this song does not match the places he has been.
Many of the places he goes, I would NOT want to go, but it is fun to follow Keith on Google map. For Example France, China, Korea. I would not pay one penny (Do you have pennies?) to go to France, but if I were to win an all expense paid luxury trip I would go and probably enjoy much of what I would see. On the other hand, Korea and China - I would never go there for any amount of money.
But wherever he is sent, Keith just seems to take it all in his stride.
These are all real places, too.

"MUCH EXPERTISE" indeed. And more than just engineering. Can you imagine working and understanding and getting along with all those different cultures? Even if they all speak English, the difference in accents alone must be terrific.
KEITH, we are talking about you behind your back! :) ENJOY! I have never thought to ask but do you speak any foreign languages?
A better view of two bears. Wonder if they are the same two as last evening? The one bear, I think, is waiting for a salmon to jump into his mouth. Several almost did, but he hasn't caught a fish yet. Neither have I. :(
Have been exploring a few of the cams at the BEAR link. http://explore.org/live-cams/player/brown-bear-salmon-cam-brooks-falls
This is from Brennam, Maine.
And this from Charlo, Montana.
The view from this nest is lovely and the quality and focus of all these cams is fantastic.
