Morning all someone sitting

Hi MIKE T8 just arrived mantling at the magpies and has managed to chase them off
What a lovely capture of the magpies. They've clearly sussed the end of the season is impending.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

T8 scoffing yet another fish
Evening All. An Osprey just came and went from the nest, sorry could not see who it was. We managed to visit Manton Bay about lunch time today. While we were there, there was very little action. Both Maya and 33 were sitting quietly on perches, Maya on the nest perch, above the nest camera and 33 midway up the righthand Poplar tree, facing away from us. Some of his wing and back feathers were a lovely pale milk chocolate brown in that light, not the dark brown I think of when I imagine Ospreys. Maya did a fair amount of preening and a lot of staring down the bay toward the south (thinking of her long journey to come, perhaps?) You may know that T8 was reported to have flown off south down the bay about 9.30am today, so I am overjoyed to see he has returned. Apparently, also before we arrived Maya had chased off an intruder while 33 had flown to the nest and was proclaiming his ownership. But by the time we arrived, 33 was back on the Poplar tree, which we were told was his favourite perch. That was interesting since last summer he seemed to prefer the slanted perch to the far left of the nest (when viewed from the Waderscrape hide).
Alan, Thanks for the captured proof that T8 had not yet migrated.
Kind regards, Ann
