How different yesterday has ended than the day before when the boys nestled together on the nest! One reason being that the cam inexplicably zoomed in around Night Cam time and never returned to normal. So we are not exactly sure who is on the nest tonight, though we can guess it is Willow. And we assume no one else is standing on the other side! Yesterday brought many flights on and off the nest for both siblings. Willow managed to fly off the nest with his fish, another milestone in a young osprey's development. Some speculated again about when EJ would venture fishing to support the increased volume needed of fish, now that both youngsters are airborne. And yet again Granny Smith supplied superb photos and a report of her visit to the VC.
One thing is certain, though the nest was empty a few times today, true ENS has not yet set in for us. Hopefully the cam pic will be normalized, and with good focus. :-?

Hello Birdie!!
ENS and quiet now. Perhaps Odin has been 'persuaded' to go fishing.

Clare and I say good morning to all.

Hello Limpy and hello to Clare too!
10.20 Volume has a mind of its own. Rowan has landed, and is calling, but I can barely hear him. He checks the nest floor for left overs, and finds something delicious. Incoming... EJ lands, mantling
10.22 EJ has left to sort the intruder out...possibly
Calls from Willow, off cam. I can't see Rowan calling at all, and can only assume Willow is very close. Rowan attacks a stick near him, and makes himself more comfy.
10.28 He watches over his shoulder for a while and relaxes.
10.30 Odin is intruder calling from off the nest EJ joins in.
I thought I saw an osp flying to the left at the top left of the pic.
10.52 Rowan has flown ENS

Then Odin flew.
BIRDIE - Is this what you were referring to re 2nd FISH? I never got a better view - I think it was Odin's own breakfast which he brought with him while defending.
If not, I'll look for something else :-)
