Welcome to a new week. Hope ALL the familiar faces will show up this week! :-)
Go back to page 8 of the previous thread to see Mike's link to the question: How do you free a Golden Eagle caught up in a very high tree without the use of a ladder? Page 9 shows Bowie posing for his closeup. OG and EE are busy shooting at cats and cheering on Housemartins in the midst of home repairs (the birds that is).
Brenda: Well, there always seems to be one lavender bush that I missed! I have to tidy them up and take off all the dead blooms once during the summer, then in the winter, I whack 'em all back by a third. Trouble is, they're all getting old and woody.
OH and I bought tickets to a concert tonight - Jean-Yves Thibaudet is playing Rhapsody in Blue and since the Music Academy is hosting the show, the tickets were super cheap. But now we're looking at each other and thinking we'd rather stay home in our comfy togs and relax. But no. Must hose off and rise to the occasion.
Was amazed that Djokovich got knocked out at Wimbledon so early. Shocker!
Have a good Sunday everyone.
OG how lucky to have goldfinches in your garden. I have never seen one in the flesh and have tried all sorts to encourage them. Maybe too many corvids and cats around our area.
Physio was pleased with my progress – she kept saying “Ït’s only been 2 weeks”. Really? It seems so much longer <grin> She’s given me 4 more exercises, one is just marching on the spot, easypeasy. I said I thought I could manage without stick. When I reached end of corridor, I handed her my stick. I must have overdone it as last night knee was quite sore. Also the waterproof dressing leaked during my shower, filled with water, so I removed it a week early. Rummaged for some dressing to replace. Now I have to find a big enough plastic bag before next shower.
.
I took this pic of MissJ & MissL enjoying strawberries with savoury bics at end of April. An old tablecloth to protect carpet. That was the day my knee started swelling. Too bad I didn’t snap them after they demolished the choc bics. MissJ’s face & hands were covered in choc. BTW Miss4 in background.
Evening all: Busy day taking car of various and sundry car problems, which should all be fixed now (fingers crossed!).
Heather: Have fun at Zizzi's.
OG: You're more than welcome to join me, but we may have to petition for several more "next" lives to explore all those careers.
Brenda: Sounds like a bad hair day at your house (or at least in the driveway). Hope your good nature returns soon. We try to organize our vehicles before any workmen show up to avoid similar last-minute reshufflings.
Lmac: Lovely photo of Tapaidh - so appealing with her yoghurt moustache.
AQ: Cute Misses J&L obviously take their strawberries seriously. How old are they now? And how is Miss 4 doing at her pre-school?
Good Morning, All.
Annette - hope car problems are sorted without bother.
Brenda - I'm shocked - shocked! LOL! Seriously, you were in the right and your own entrance is sacrosanct.
Lmac - What a super picture! Lovely.
Heather - Enjoy your dining experience. I know just what you mean, we have a favourite restaurant in the Canaries and theirs are just wooden seats: if we go there with friends and have a two hour stay, chatting, my posterior suffers even though I'm well padded. I've sworn to take a cushion with me in future.
OG - Oh, to have the chance to learn again, but I would have to have a better memory next time around as my head doesn't seem to retain stuff.
AQ - Love their little frocks. Children are so funny with messy chocolate, too. Great news that you are doing so well, but don't overdo it!
Lots to do today, phone calls to make and the dreaded ironing. My OH is helping his (other) sister out as her new dog has had to have an operation and needs a scan today to see if her leg is now improved.
Ps My OH is still "not right" and has a gurgling and strangely uncomfortable tum, but he has a much more cast iron constitution than I. It really is a mystery, but I told him that he shouldn't have had eaten some rather old blue cheese he's very fond of!
(OG - he never eats lettuce or salad greens unless as a guest somewhere, so it's not connected to that)
LMAC love the pic of yours after she had eaten her "welcome home" yogurt. We met someone a couple of days ago who had bought his 4 legged friend a holiday pressie from Switzerland. The dog was wearing mini cow bells. Glad we are not the only ones who are daft about their pets!!!
Not getting much done: Have Andy/Tsongas on one channel and Wales/Portugal on the other!
Good evening. Another quite busy morning, a short meeting after lunch, afternoon coffee and cake at OTB, then some shopping at Gretna Gateway – including a new suitvase to replace one whose handle broke on latest holiday.
Lmac – just love that face – even dripping yoghourt! We get quite a lot of Goldfinches, although we are in a suburban area – but with field hedges very near.
AQ – pleased physio was pleased, but sorry about swelling after exercises. Surprised you still have a dressing to get wet. Twins had changed a lot – probably even more by now!
Annette – I hope you had less problems to deal with today!
Linda – sorry your OH is still “not right”, but I see he was busy as usual! You don’t say how you are today, but you also seem to be getting things caught up at home.
Multi-tasking right now, so back to facebook, before I write gobble-di-gook (is that how it is spelt?)
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Is it gobble-de-gook? Not sure, now!
Just been cheering Andy on- that was a bit worrying. He looked relieved, himself!
My OH is watching Wales doing battle. He spent the morning helping a relative by digging out an old rotten gatepost, going to buy cement, then resetting a new one! Then he went to the tip with the rubbish from same. Then he visited his (younger) sister. Then he went to an office to pay a bill. THEN he drove into Manchester to collect his (older)sister's dog! (Who is doing well and won't need more treatment).
Before and after all this, he took Bonnie on a long walk! He says he feels better now!
Hello all -
Lunch with Middle daughter and Amy was good at Zizzi. I spotted a cushion on a chair at the entrance, so bagged it!
As often happens in our family, plans for Amy's birthday meal in the evening changed. They came here, plus Callum's girlfriend and our eldest son in law. He would have been on his own because Lucy and Katie are in Edinburgh. Callum's girlfriend wasn't at all fazed by us - she is one of four daughters and quite used to lots of laughter and banter.
