The osprey season is in full swing. The two chicks at Loch Garten have been examined, ringed and named and other nests in the area are following along in due time.
We are glad to be following two healthy juveniles named Willow and Rowan.
Yesterday Evening I spent sometime at two nests close together and one of these was LOCHTER.
News is the single remaining chick is doing well and put on a good show that I stayed around for 3 hours. It was flapping away whilst mother stayed on the camera watching Him/Her. Just before I left the male dived in the trout pool and caught a fish and took it up to the nest so I left them to enjoy there supper.
There wewre two chicks on the nest but the other chick was knocked off by a buzzard earlier in the season. This has happened regularly at this nest over the past four years.
Off to Balgavies in a couple of hours on my way home - I told my wife not to expect me till midnight :):).
KEITH, what a fantastic report. You know that Lochter is one of my favorite nests. I call it the cone nest as its archetectural structure always appealed to me and I like its setting.
Yesterday our local boy from DUNBLANE won his second Wimbledon Title and we all celebrated.
I am still celebrating today as I have seen my third fledge (Maiden Flight) when I was in the hide at Loch of the Lowes when Blue KP0 took her first flight.
At 11:32 Blue KP0 took to the air - and certainly was the strongest fledge I have seen - so confident a good fly round and a perfect landing back on the nest followed by another four flights all as competent within the hour.
Getting Ready
She's taken the leap watched by her siblings.
On her first flight - Landing gear remained out during this flight.
Coming back to the nest with the siblings watching her come in.
This is the three fledges I have seen. All different styles.

Keith, Thanks so much for the report and photos. Fantastic to be able to see an Osprey fledge--one day hope to see it for myself! Wonderful scenery in your LOTL shot of Blue KPO coming back to the nest.
Kind regards, Ann
Great pictures, Keith. Thank you for sharing them.

Good morning June. I thinkyou might still be around! We have been away camping for a few days in Somerset. Lovely break away and such a fascinating part of England, never been before even though I come from a neighbouring county!
Quite pleased to see that Rowan and Willow have both fledged but also aware that it now wont be long before the depart these shores :(. Thatswhat they are born to do. EJ and Odin have done a great job rearing these two beautiful ospreys! Brilliant parenting :)
