Birdies LG DU update.
Mrs G huddled down with the two chicks. Soaking wet again!
Arran has delivered a flounder which Mrs G is feeding to the chicks while he sits on the perch as usual.
Feed over Mrs G has just flown Aran has come to the nest for the remainder of the fish
Aran has flown with his scrap of fish
W8 had trouble just turning around Poor thing
Mrs G back
Aran has brought his fish back to the nest to eat so all the family is together W8 lying down
Was he lame before the ringing get and I wonder if they noticed anything wrong. Chances are not good for w8 considering the need working talons to catch him food and to perch.
Lmac. No problems were noticed at the time. Earlier today he stood for quite a long time eating from a flounder. The camera operator zoomed right in and there is nothing obviously wrong that can be seen. It is the first time we have had a real good look at his legs and he certainly used both feet and all his talons to hold the fish, a flounder, first with the left and then with the right. The actual rings are clearly not a problem. It is hoped that it is just a development issue but Glaslyn are well aware of the concern and are monitoring closely. Hence the zoom earlier. Hopefully as he begins to stand more things will change. Fingers crossed.
As I looked back he was standing well and actually backed up on to the branches of the nest rim to 'fire a laser' over the side! He is still limping but the signs are encouraging I would say.
