A new week - no posh link to last week's thread I'm afraid, but then again, it may not be worth the aggravation! :-)
My thoughts exactly Clare.
Birdies LG DU update.
ANNETTE Hope you get lots of good info... We both enjoyed the salmon stuffed with lemon, mascarpone, and garlic (M&S) last might but no room for desert so will have it for tonight.
OG Hope J takes a few days away so you can commandeer his room for a few days... OH is working 1100-1400 today and tomorrow so no special day out I am afraid.
Another swim for me, then as there was a mix up yesterday over coffee time I will meet the same friend for lunch today.
LYNETTE What a nuisance about the developer. Hope things get sorted soon.
I came downstairs at 0630 to feed Benson and the bird table was mobbed by at least half a doz crows. Put more food out when they left.
MIKE thanks for that.
Bowie after grooming
Unknown said:Annette – I think the Housemartin nest had a weak spot following previous repair after the nest was attacked and the chicks killed. It was probably already doomed to failure, being a renovation of last year’s nest. We probably should have knocked the old nest down, so they would build a strong new structure, instead of renovating it.
Update on HM nest. House martins have already repaired the latest damage! Birds are still in the vicinity, and we are watching to see if any signs of renewed egg-laying.
Unknown said:Brenda – OH bought a water pistol this morning after two cats visited! Hasn’t yet been used “in anger”!
Said wet pistol was taken out this morning to chase a third encroaching cat. Unfortunately I was too late to use it. The cat (a big grey one) walked all the way along the top of our back fence and, as there were no birds handy just then, quickly hopped down into the road beyond before I could get to it. I'm hoping for better luck with the next feline target I see in our garden.
Morning all:
Diane: If you're still tied up, I'll start the thread again tonight.
Eagle-Eye: Thanks for the update on the Housemartin nest.
Mike/Clare: Finally - a story that involves a gun and a happy ending! But I wonder why the Fire Department couldn't roll out one of their ladders.....
dibnlib: Relieved that it was a M&S dinner; I was feeling inadequate. :-)
Alan: Do you have a groomer who makes house calls? Our poor old cat has stopped grooming herself and OH and I have to distract her at one end while I work on the tangles at the other....
Off to sort out our lavender bushes...
Yes, thanks Annette!
Eagle-eye, I hope you bought a long range water pistol, my OH has become an expert at hitting any cats on the back fence. LOL I honestly believe he enjoys himself. Good Luck. Good to hear the HM's have repaired their nest.
Mike, Thanks for the link. Great to see a happy ending to such a dramatic rescue.
Annette, Hope you manage to finish your work on the lavender bushes. I can't have lavender anywhere near the house or garden. OH really suffers from the smell.
