WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey topics) SUNDAY, JUNE 26, 2016

A new week - no posh link to last week's thread I'm afraid, but then again, it may not be worth the aggravation!  :-)

  • I swore I would not read or write on here for a while, but am saddened to see that I seem to have affected things, even by my absence.

I have been quite poorly since last Thursday, and am only just getting back into routine - I've not even left the house since I had lunch out on Thursday. I simply found things all too much because of this, and decided to take a break. I thought if I asked Brenda to relay my thanks to you, which she kindly did, there would be no need for me to write here, that's all.

I hope that Heather is still reading, and will reconsider her statement to leave - we would all miss her. EDIT - Heather, I'm sure there is no reason for you to go.

I am off to Wales tomorrow to recuperate and recharge my batteries, but I will be back. Take Care, All.

  • Lovely, Clare - Thanks for posting him!

  • Lovely to hear from you Linda and sorry to hear you have been so poorly. Hope you have a fantastic time in Wales and can recharge your batteries. Spent many happy holidays in that area when I was young. Hope you come back on the thread as well Heather, You would be sorely missed.

    Gorgeous Puffin Clare.

    Kind regards

    Jenny

  • I think you all need to get a grip and ask yourselves how old you all are! This site has been wonderful for the wide range of topics discussed and for all the caring friendships that have been formed. Just take a few days out and it will all be sorted - no need for anyone to walk away I'm sure.

  • AQ    Keep up with those exercises.

    CLARE    love the Puffin pic.

LINDY   Enjoy Wales and hope you go back home fully fit.

  • Hope this does not offend anyone. I just had to post it as it really made me laugh. It regards a certain football match last night and was posted by a friend.

    TRIBUTES POUR IN FOR SCOTLAND

THE COUNTRY HAS LAUGHED ITSELF TO DEATH.

I really dislike football, but OH who is English washed and thought England played very badly.   I will add that Scotland did not even make the tournament!!!

  • I hope nobody will leave this tread over something we will all just have to put up with. Heather I would really miss all the news you give us about your lovely family, how your grand daughter is coping with her diabetes and your grand son in his apprentice ship these are the things that have kept us together.

Annette the gun amnesty only applies in Scotland as it was legislation passed by the Scottish Parliament. I go up north on Friday for a long weekend but as we are having rail strikes at the moment I hope that I can get back home

    george g

  • George: Thanks for the info on the amnesty.  Have a lovely time away and don't worry about the strike (easy for me to say).

Clare: Love the puffin pix and that lovely kittiwake.

    OG: Hot-headed!!    You?   :-))

AQ: But think - you now have two good knees - the sky's the limit!

Let me join the wish that nobody leaves the thread permanently.

  • Now things have calmed down I will post again. Yesterday was a very bad and sad day for me as I had to say a final farewell to my brother. Funeral service was lovely but it was very hard. At the Wake I learned a lot about my brother. How he was a mainstay in organising the Chertsey Show every year, about him helping friends to sort out financial affairs, how his friends miss their Saturday battles  to change the Battle of the Atlantic, about how he has left a big hole in the general society in Chertsey. Above all I never realised how much love we had between us, that was something I learned from his close friends.

Today has been about continuing to sort out estate affairs, not helped by various organisations not getting on with providing information needed to get probate and get everything underway. I can see this going on for months!

I look forward to a time we can get on with our lives. Especially looking forward to our time in the Cairngorms and LG in mid August-beginning Sept, three weeks away from everything!

Hope everyone suffering from aches, pains and ops are feeling a bit better today.

  • I am so sorry to hear of the sad death of your dear brother.  Funerals have a habit of revealing surprising facts, often when you really wished you had known of before.  Clearly he will be sorely missed by family, and his many friends in Chertsey.  Quite a tribute to him.

The sorting out of affairs can be so time consuming and very frustrating, but I wish you well, and hope that tomorrow is better than today, and you have a wonderful time in the Cairngorms.
