HAPPY NEW WEEK!

Last week's Chat thread is here.

On Monday: HAPPY SOLSTICE and HAPPY FULL MOON!

This will be the first Full Moon to fall on the June Solstice since 1967 -- the Summer of Love! -- according to EarthSky. Other sources say it hasn't happened since 1948.

The Slooh Observatory will host an online live streaming special dedicated to the Solstice and Full Moon combination event.

Everyone have a wonderful week!

  • OMG -- I just got out of bed for a bathroom break and can't believe how close the vote is.......

    What will the morning bring???

  • I'm watching the vote and the markets, Lindy. The U.S. stock market (the Dow) is crashing. It's down 500 points right now.

  • It's recovering a bit. It was down 600 points a few minutes ago.

  • I just got on the BBC website and feel ill at the forecast. It all seems rather - how shall I say - regressive, to put it mildly. I really hope the folks who voted to leave will be happy with what they have five years down the road. It reminds me of the very popular (among some people) Proposition 13 vote in California lo these many decades ago. The destructive effects weren't felt for about 20 years.

Diane: Re the DJIA, well that's what they said would happen, right?  But who listened....

In the meantime, can the folks in Scotland push Donald Trump off a cliff of something....please?   Or maybe the Brexit folks could ask Boris to offer him a job there?

  • Omg....and another referendum will loom for Scotland:(

  • Still getting up for loo breaks -  I'm really not well and have just told my OH that we can't visit the little ones tomorrow, as I may pass it on to them. I don't know if it's something I ate or a bug which is catching :-(

Could not believe the News at 6.30am.  Although we both voted Leave, we really expected Remain to squeak through.   I was expecting to write on here that the Great had gone out of Great Britain -  now I'm numb, but pleased that we will be free of the shackles that bind. We can still be good Europeans.

Great Britain once more, not a little piece of the European conglomerate!!

  • I'm gutted at the result.  All of the vicious lies we've been told have been believed by so many people - what the hell can we all expect now that this terrible campaign has won?  Scotland will be looking for independence again and I can't blame them.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • OMG Lindybird: That's Donald Trump's line: Make America Great again! Keep out the immigrants! Don't let anyone push us around! Much as I love my homeland, Great Britain has just opted for policies that I fear will only make it less relevant in the future, regardless of its name. Oh well.

  • Not the same as Trump at all, Annette. Folks have looked into the future and don't want to be ruled by faceless men in cities far away.

There will still be immigration, but it will be controlled. Sadly all that the Remainers did was lie about Gloom and Doom if we left, which just didn't wash. I'm very sorry that it was a close run thing, rather than a landfall - there will be many unhappy people today. But that was on the cards whatever happened.

  • We saw that Trump was coming to Scotland, and are hoping for your sake that he trips over a haggis or gets into a fight with a bagpipe.....
