HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's Chat thread is here.
On Monday: HAPPY SOLSTICE and HAPPY FULL MOON!
This will be the first Full Moon to fall on the June Solstice since 1967 -- the Summer of Love! -- according to EarthSky. Other sources say it hasn't happened since 1948.The Slooh Observatory will host an online live streaming special dedicated to the Solstice and Full Moon combination event.Everyone have a wonderful week!
PS: BTW: we voted weeks ago. Am really scared by possible outcome tomorrow. We seem to be in "Leave" country here - but maybe just because they have more posters up - more litter for the countryside!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Will be voting remain. It's a no brainer. Better for workers rights,NHS, animal welfare and the environment. We will deal with Dodgy Dave later when the electoral expenses fraud gets some traction.
Annette - wasn't the Antartica incident with the female doctor in 1999 and not the current incident?
Wendy - very well stated re feelings/attitudes felt and generated during our independence referendum.
OG: I so, so wish I could have visited the donkey sanctuary with you. I look forward to pictures of you with the owls -- either here or on Facebook. I'm very glad that you're having a good holiday!!! You deserve it. You've been through a lot this year.
Lindy: I meant to tell you that your flower photos were so beautiful. Just glorious.
Annette: I've been watching the sit-in and the bedlam on the House floor. I'll bet those women are sorry that they chose today to wear those tight pencil skirts. LOL It's 1:00 a.m. here, and I'm too tired to work but I have to stay up because we're under a tornado watch and very severe storms are moving in. We could get 3 inches of rain. They've already had 100 mph winds north of Lafayette. Wish I could send our rain to your fires, Annette.
Evening all:
Heather: Will le Creuset pan survive? I don't own one and wonder why they're so hard to clean. When I took a cooking class eons ago, the instructor told us that boiling water in the burned pan would make clean up much easier (but you probably already know that).
Lindybird: How frustrating that you've spent three years on a legal matter only to find it's not worth pursuing at this point. Take out your frustration with the painting tomorrow (but not too energetically).
OG: Small owls - how cute!
LizLFW: Yes indeed - the female doctor's evacuation was way back, but I was reading about the logistics of these flight and the story mentioned her case, which seemed all the more awful because she had to take care of herself. I gather the current flight is back safe with two people.
Lots more about the Referendum on our radio/tv today. They ended one segment by asking a bookmaker (noting they'd been more successful than the polls in predicting past winners) and he claims the Remain vote will prevail.....
Time will tell.
Diane: We crossed posts. Don't like the idea of tornado watch AT ALL! Hope you've got your mattress and a hard hat at the ready. Seriously, be safe. Apparently California is decommissioning it's last nuclear power plant (Diablo Canyon, about 1-1/2 hours up the road), but not until 2025. In the meantime, it's sitting on top of a healthy earthquake fault. It if isn't one thing, it's several others.
I saw that about Diablo Canyon. Greenpeace posted it on my Facebook timeline today. At first I thought, Yay! And then I read that it wasn't until 2025. Sheesh.
Good Morning, All. A bit dull here but dry. Going out later for a quick lunch with my Friend, as I have stuff to do here, and she has to go for physio this afternoon. Her knee is recovering well but as she has been so inactive for a long time, she is finding it hard walking every day as she's been told to.
Hope all passed without incident, Diane...that's scary! We just had a ten second clip of the fracas in your Senate, it seems a bit hopeless.
I just bought some lovely little decorated metal hearts and birds, for Christmas decorations, online!!!!! Will give some to the dau. In laws......
Lindy: Thanks. It looks like the worst of it has missed me. Woo hoo! Worried about my brother and family north of me, though. It was bad there.
Hope that you hear soon, that all is OK with your brother and his family, DIANE. Pleased that you escaped the worst.
