Yesterday was a thundery day of plenty, after a slow start (leftover whale on nest) and some horrible aggression, Goliath on David. I think Fergus's suggestion is perfect (notwithstanding the pronounced genders) until the official names are decided on.
Having slept thru a lot of it, please see CC's summary (link to follow).
However, I thought that the "mystery bird" could do with demonstrating prominently, as a number of us have missed previous IDs.
Male and female cuckoo - he seems to be modifying his call with "pop-ups", and she is the "bubbler":
Here is the thunder that didn't bring on a storm, thank goodness; then Goliath exercising her maturing voice and then enjoying a couple of poops:
EDIT - And this is the male cuckoo with echo-cackle - is that him or another bird?
IMAGICAT
It was a very orderly feed, with #1 retiring first. Can you see #2's head receiving? :-(
Finished for now, but plenty left for later :-)
EJ's Memorial Balgavies Loch Ospreys 2023
Here's Odin for the leftover.
Good morning, MARY, I hope you haven't been here too long before being greeted :-) Nice to see you before you leave.
Everything's taking me ages this morning, as usual.
LOL SCYLLA, I have been here for almost an hour now....
EJ is ever watchful, while the GEM's have flaked out after the feed.
Oh I missed Odin taking the fish away Scylla, he must have morphed to do it, because I didn't hear any wing beats, or maybe my sound has gone!
Not a lot happening on the nest at the moment, EJ preens, GEM's flaked out.
Got to go now, enjoy your webcam watching everyone. :-)
I'm drooping and shall have to go soon. The 2 kids are flat out, nice to see, EJ standing, casually preening, feather on her nose.
Cheers Mary. Just caught up with all your threads!
