Good morning all. Just logged on to see the LG chicks have been ringed :) Two boys this time and I feel full of hope for these two!
Keith love the story of the Kites stealing underwear. I saw once a long time ago a lady in Oxford had a kites nest in her back garden. When someone went up to ring them the ringer found loads of pants, bras and socks LOL! Stolen from washing lines :)
Good to know the beautiful kestrel has chicks. Gret news if thats the case. We have lots of baby blue tits and great tits in the garden and was just saying to OH, hadnt had a visit from our sparrowhawk lately, and just later that afternoon a sparrowhawk whizzed past and made a grab for a baby blue tit on the feeder. It appeared to be a female too usually its the male. She left empty handed (luckily for the baby!)
The LG chicks Rowan and Willow are really fine looking chicks and are aparently in very good health. No wonder, with parents like Odin and EJ.
Love the pic of B33 as a youngster ( at ringing time) I am quite pleased the LG chicks are not being tagged this year, we can hope to catch a glimpse of them sometime in the future :)
Great story about your bck yard Willow!
The nest is getting crowded, even when only three are present.
The chicks were asleep, Daddy flew in without a fish. The chicks woke up, walked about, did a bit of wing stretching. Odin flew away. EJ flew in with fish, head only removed.. ID based on chest color. Did EJ catch the fish or did she get it from Odin off-cam? The three proceeded to eat with lots of big wing stretches. I captured a medium stretch. :)
Rowan and Willow with heads under cover.
Keith Did you ever get up to LG and LOTL and did you have good watching? Or is that still coming up this week. Still hoping for some pictures.
It has long since been dark here in southwest Ohio, but it is still daylight at Manton Bay.
