Hi, Its been a quiet sort of day if you don't count the wind which has been ferocious sounding at times, its the mike that picks it up.
Only 3 fish delivered all day, this no doubt due to the weather. but having said that the young ospreys have been well provided for over the last few weeks so a day without much probably won't harm them and in fact lett all that fat on them dissipate a bit, hmmmmm.
Seriously though, lets hope the weather is better today so that the ringing and tagging can take place which is scheduled for 8pm tonight.
The bairns are close together, some fidgiting going on and looking around but on the whole they are keeping their heads down with this wind.
Happy viewing everybody, see you in the morning, night, night.

In Aus and America alarms set to get up early , Some be siiting round computers screens with goats here and chickens there. and what happens, The wind drops and the chicks are too jumpy. Dearie me. lol

Have you all got sound on the nest ? Mine has been quiet for a while now. Can't even hear any wind.

Yes I have sound. there's very little wind now.
ALAN on five news just now, Paul ( the octopus) has received death threats from German fans lol
Ok I'm back from lovely supper outing. No tags, names etc yet. Youngsters are jumpy - I'm not surprised after that sustained intruder episode earlier and with two plus days of sustained ferocious gales in the locus - time for a breather. Will check the forecast for tomorrow and report back. Last time I checked yesterday, there was rain forecast but there may be an update. Chances are that Roy is on standby.
Ok, winds seem to have dropped now for the foreseeable. Heavy rain is forecast tomorrow from around 10am and starts easing off after 1pm. Sunny intervals with no gales from mid afternoon so it seems that the afternoon could offer the window of opportunity Roy needs, assuming the youngsters stay on the nest in the wee small hours. Isn't this exciting.
I watched them since just after nine when EJ alarm called. The chicks just dropped flat in the nest and froze instantly as they are supposed to do. Text book stuff. I don't know why they were deemed to be 'jumpy' as they were only doing what they would have done had the ringing/tagging taken place.

I guess they'll carry out the ringing and tagging early in the morning (if I keep saying that I'm bound to be right eventually!) as there's rain forecast for 10 am or so.
Thats true ChloeB but I noticed the intruder alert at 6.52pm so there has been a sustained presence around the nest this evening. Pretty unsettling for the family
