Hi, Its been a quiet sort of day if you don't count the wind which has been ferocious sounding at times, its the mike that picks it up.
Only 3 fish delivered all day, this no doubt due to the weather. but having said that the young ospreys have been well provided for over the last few weeks so a day without much probably won't harm them and in fact lett all that fat on them dissipate a bit, hmmmmm.
Seriously though, lets hope the weather is better today so that the ringing and tagging can take place which is scheduled for 8pm tonight.
The bairns are close together, some fidgiting going on and looking around but on the whole they are keeping their heads down with this wind.
Happy viewing everybody, see you in the morning, night, night.

EJ mantling and defending again. Maybe more than one flying intruder around? On the LotL site yesterday, they pointed out that there are now a lot of already fledged ospreys around, hoping sometimes for some 'free' food from other nests.
Good morning Lindybird EJ was most certainly angry even one of the youngsters joined in. Intruder must have been around for quite a while. Laugh I have to turn the sound down now as her shrieking is just to loud for me.
Margobird
GEMs at the Beauty parlour now! EJ keeping watch in case that pesky intruder comes back ... seems to be calling .... I wonder if Odin has shown up?

Heron 77 that is a wonderful capture and narrative. EJ was really in anger mode, just look at those eyes.
All calm again now, and everyone is preening. The wind is not as bad as yesterday, & they can stand up on the nest without being almost blown off straightaway. As the GEM's are nearly as big as their mother now, you can only pick out EJ by her back feathers and regal bearing - the young 'uns are always racketing about, like teenagers!

Good morning DjoanS that is another wonderful capture, I laughed when one of the youngsters was assisting EJ. I am wondering if Odin is around as EJ has done a bit of calling. Notice how coordinated they are getting now, can have a scratch standing upright on one leg.
Not looking good for ringing/tagging this year. Has the weather finally defeated them?
Window very small now.

Good morning Alan that intruder was being very persistent. EJ now calling I think for a fish and youngster joining in. Has learned now that when you want fish you have to shout.
Hi margobird - great to know that the hearing aids are working so well - I have to lower the sound for the wind ... and when she is in nagging mode ... I don't like it and it drives Harry, the budgie, bananas :-)
So true Lindybird typical teeneagers. The wind is not as bad as yesterday when poor EJ was clinging on for her life watching the youngsters flapping about and leaving the ground so to speak. So hope they are going to be able to ring and tag later today. I am going to miss it as OH has a meeting with a client tonight and will not be home until about 8.00pm. I am sure if it is done someone will catch the moment. While I type the wind seems to have died down a bit more, fingers crossed.
