Hi folks, hope you enjoyed the revalries (not sure of the spelling)and relaxed in America. Hi to our Finnish and Australian friends and anyone whom I have missed out.
Its been a very windy day at LG with I think 5 fish delivered in total. EJ had a job to stay on the nest at times and during the course of the day we found her huddled next to her young ospreys trying to keep them dry and sheltered from the wind. Of course they are too big for that and at times she was the one trying to get under them. She is off the nest at the time being and our youngsters are staying tight on the nest in a huddle. Do hope the wind dies down by morning so that they can be ringed and blinged and soon we shall know their names.
If it stays too windy they will try another day, but hopefully sometime this week.
Happy viewing and night, night.

Yes, ghengis, it was the 1st thing I noticed today - the microphone is faint and it sounds like something is rattling below the nest....
Odin waits and cleans his beak for a while, whilst EJ starts to feed 2 youngsters with the fish....
Odin leaves, and one youngster keeps on with the preening - not bothered with food at present.

Many thanks to All for reports/posts/photos - it sounds quite an eventful day all the same, with intruders, and wind, and GEM's feeding themselves! Special thanks to Pharazon for clip of the intruder landing on the nest! Hang on - Odin just delivered medium sized FISH!

Lindybird. I was in the middle of replying to your post about how it could've been alarm calling but at a distant intruder because EJ wasn't mantling. Then Odin arrives with a fish while I'm plodding away at the keyboard. Ospreys have a brilliantly wicked sense of humour. LOL
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
thanks Lindybird, pleased it is not just me................ anyway, as it seems to be teatime at LG, i think it must be about teatime here too!! xx

Hi ghengis.
I noticed that as well. Perhaps the mike did get blown out of position. Certainly sounds that way with the rattling.
Sorry, I'm trying to cook something for our meal.... must go for a bit....
Isn't it amazing how food always tastes better outdoors, when it's a bit breezy.
Good evening all just popped in for a while and thanks for all the pics and commentary.
Alan I laughed out loud when I read about the youngster 'helicoptering' off the nest. As you say they better ring and tag quickly or they are going to be away, especially the largest.

I too noticed that something was wrong with the sound as I could see that EJ was shouting but it was very hard to hear. Perhaps she has lost her voice after all the screaming at intruders and shouting for Odin. At the moment she is doing some beak sharpening I think but nearly walked all over the youngsters to do it. Not sure if it was EJ now or perhaps she has just left the nest.
At long last the wind has just about dropped now EJ's feathers just blowing gently in the breeze. She has just left the nest perhaps a fishing trip.
