Happy Independence Day America. (hope I've got my history right)
It was a very gusty day at LG. What with EJ having difficulty landing earlier on that day and trying to keep on the nest when she was there. Lots of wing flapping exercises, one nearly took off but not quite. To top it all it started to rain.
EJ is right on the edge of the nest and has now taken off , probably going to her roost tree. Earlier she brought in a very large trout and just before that Odin had brought in a fish and left it for the youngsters. One did try to feed itself and then when mum came back with hers, abandoned it and went to mum for a feed. In all an entertaining day watching these incredible birds.
Happy viewing and we'll see what today brings. Night, night.

I think I'm right in saying that it's Eldest not partaking - I wonder why though as she could just barge to the beak and be served first ! if she wanted
"Hey kids! How's this for a fly away?"
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
This picture of Odin checking the size of his chicks is priceless!!
The fish is gone, but EJ is not calling for more. She probably realizes Odin catching this fish was a victory in the wind

Oops this is the picture I was referring to . Odin checking the size of his chicks
Playing catchup again and find it is still as windy if not more so. EJ was huddled down on top of at least one chick when I switched on but has now got up and has begun calling again. The young ones are staying put.
Thanks for updates and pics by the way.
Heron: how did you manage that capture - well done! Odin of the pristine white breast
Hi everyone. Thanks for all the brilliant updates, observations, pictures etc. I've been watching this afternoon but not as intently as usual so haven't been posting. Only noticed Odin had brought the latest fish when I heard a commotion and came running in from the kitchen. Seeing all five on the nest is always nice. However with the severe wind today and the fact that the GEMs may possibly be ringed and blinged by this time tommorow, just made it even more special for a few moments. A wonderful Osprey family :-) The wind at LG today has been about as welcome as the combination of a frozen bird bath and a terrible hangover. The fact that Odin or any Osprey for that matter can fish in such conditions, shows how phenominal these raptors are.Paul.
EJ is still calling but I bet Odin can't hear her with the wind.
