Daily Update (LG Nest) Saturday 3rd.July

Hi everyone,  not seen much of the action yesterday as I have been on and off the computer. Believe it had its moments though.

All quiet as all three GEM's are sleeping and EJ must be roosting in a tree nearbye.

Not sure what the weather is doing, it sounded like a shower earlier.

Happy viewing, see you all in the morning.

  • Air Traffic Control has cleared the runway and looks as if she is expecting an arrival - but only a GEM is making any noise!  With all that wind, not a good day for fishing.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • On my 'Tour' blog I have added the second part of the summary of my trip, mentioning the visit I made to the Rothiemurchus Fish farm that Odin visits, according to local accounts.

  • Thanks to all for the updates and pix. Ive been catching up, as have been in Scotland for a few days.

I had 2 great visits to LG, (never been before, loved the really nice Centre and helpful people) -one was on Wed 5.15pm or so when Odin was sitting in the tree having left a fish on the nest, and lovely views of the chicks attempting to deal with it, in absence of EJ.

Also visited LoL on Friday morning, Lady looking well and shouting for fish. Also saw the male and the intruder osprey, and the arrival of the very large trout.

  • What a lovely trip you've had, ChrisyB  - that was interesting, watching the youngsters trying to deal with a fish on their own. Would love to go to both LG & LotlL...     :-)

    - thought we'd not seen so much of you lately, ghengis.

  • Thanks, Lindybird, Id planned it for a while, and was so pleased to get to both centres, and to see the ospreys 'live', and speak to the very helpful staff there. The cameras and screens at both are clearer than online and at LG there was a second view with a better sight of that fish. Two chicks had a go, one was managing to get pieces to eat. Not sure whether it was chick no 1 or 2 though.

  • just checked the weather forecast for tomorrow in the LG area and i hope that there is not as much wing practice as today because they WILL take off... as well as heavy rain they are forcasting gale force winds and gusts up to 70mph! hang onto your hats / nests! :-(  this is very unusual weather for this time of year........  xx

  • Have been delaying the putting on of today's Fish List as was hoping it would change soon....

anyway, here it is up to now..

    Teatime Fish List:

1st Fish:   7.31am  , then 8.45am and  9.48am -  this last one, no-one was interested so Odin sat on the nest and ate most of it himself - leaving some of it for EJ to eat later. She also fed the final remainders to the youngsters.

Total so far today   only 3 Fish !!    (unless I've missed something, if I have please tell me.)

  • ChrisyB:   Understand that there is another camera view at LG - which explains their post the other day describing the actual length of some of Odin and EJ's catches. Glad you got there and enjoyed yourself.

ghengis:  Oh dear, they will have to hang on to that nest, won't they?

  • GEM's all alone on the nest just now, sleeping.  I'm surprised they hav'nt complained more, unless we have missed a fish delivery?

  • abunni has posted on the main blog that tagging will take place on monday weather permitting.
