Hi everyone, last day of June already. I have just been looking at my pics of when they were first born backend of May, from three tinies to three huge young ospreys, the rate of growth in a month seems phenomenal.
Anyhow on to yesterday, A more or less routine day with the three getting up to their usual antics and EJ keeping a motherly eye on them most of the time. She did leave the nest on occasions for longer periods, one to go fishing and bring back a whopper, round about teatime this was.
All three are resting with fidgiting and wing stretching inbetween. EJ must be on her roost tree nearbye as she isn't on the nest.
I am signing off now, see you in the morning. Happy viewing.

RSPB Giving Nature a Home
Evening all: Been gone most of the day on various errands. Thanks for news, funny commentary, suggestions, pix, and tips on ID'ing the kids. Heron remarked that Lady at LOTL (sorry, wrong thread) might "decide to retire". This probably sounds stupid, but is there a point at which an osprey wouldn't migrate due to age/health? Or are they driven by instinct to the very end?
Heron: You also asked if anyone saw a "searchlight" type of light near the nest but it posted after Lynette started this thread. Maybe someone else saw it.....?
jsb: Welcome back and glad you saw both LOTL and LG. Interesting that you found Lady (at LOTL) still frail since she looks good on camera (although they say that everyone looks fatter on the screen). How wonderful to be there for her recovery.
One chick up and peering about right now; otherwise quiet. Off to sort out dinner...
Hi Annette. I just logged in and the chicks grew overnight again!. When I first saw the nest I thought EJ & Odin were standing on the nest :) Nope, it's our GEM's standing on the nest
Formerly known as Barbara Jean
Two chicks up for poop and preen; now third is stretching. All up and awake and looking very grown up.
OK, because I'm bad at ID'ing the chicks, I'm copying and pasting here recent posts from Cirrus and Barbara Jean (and please excuse anyone else I haven't credited) that give tips on their individual markings right now:
#1 has the least white on the top of it's head( it almost looks like tweed fabric) and the longest tail when we can see all of the tails to compare. Sometimes I can't see all of the tails to compare length.
#2 has a wide white patch on both sides of it's head (more white above the highwayman mask).and you can see the white when looking at it from the back. It has a medium length tail.
Titch has wider black and smaller white stripe markings on the top it's head and the shortest tail
In the meantime, all chicks settled down again.
Evening Barbara Jean: Huge indeed. Wonder if they're heavier than last year's brood (we'll find out though when they're banded, right?)
Daylight cam on.
When Roy Dennis weighted last year's chicks he said "they were a bit on the heavy side" I wonder what he will say this year :)
think Roy will say "what have you been doing to these chicks!"
4am and all 3 asleep. Just as i type that, 2 are up and about!!
Roy Dennis will probably put them on a diet and send them off to the gym
All chicks up now. Wow. No room for them all to flap at the same time. They're looking very expectant. Wonder if EJ and Odin are on the horizon....
Cam seems to have gone down. Is it me or...?
EDIT: Ignore, it's me. All okay again. No fish yet but LOTL has had breakfast.
First fish of day. Chicks only marginally interested.
