Evening/morning all:
Lindybird; Yes!! What was the Drama next door?? Oh by the way, remember the "Tiger Woods" event down the road where somone drove into a neighbor's garage? Well, heard it was yet another neighbor's young son, totally potted (drunk) who was coming home late and somehow mistook the gas pedal for the brake!! Apparently, the Fire Department was there, etc., and had to cut the (uninjured) perpetrator out of the car because the garage door collapsed onto the car. They've just completed the repairs.
OG. Ooooh. Another lovely butterfly. Thanks!
Alan: Watched the US/Ghana match - felt so bad for the U.S. team (but if they'd won, would've felt bad for the Ghana team!) They started off so lackluster; then picked up in the second half, but then hit (to me at least) a sort of slump toward the end of the second half, but picked up again in the overtime, but to no avail. It doesn't matter which team/player I support, I always feel bad for the loser. These people put so much time and effort into their games.... Soccer is so much more exciting than U.S. football where, as I've noted before, the players are all done up like Michelin men and spend most of their tiime in a pile.....
AQ: We had floor heaters in our church in Watford, and everyone huddled over them (and roasted!) during the winter months. I missed the "red card" reference in your response to Alan....."
Our new back gate got installed today. I worked in the garden (after footie!) and managed to decimate a Potato Vine. Was trying to "re-install" it on the wall, but thought I'd be clever and trim it. Big mistake. Oh well, it'll grow back.
Quiet here tonight. Hope all are okay. Getting on is hit or miss...
Signing off now. Hope the site behaves today. Just in case it's a problem to get to other threads: LOTL had two fish within 10 minutes - one courtesy of Lady and the other - a huge one - brought by the Laird. At LG, Odin brought one fish so far
Morning All: Huge problems with the site both last night and this morning. Got on here after trying half an hour ago and failing: it wouldn't let me reply to anything, very frustrating....
Dull start to the skies here but brightening up now. Glad your roses are cheering up, Annette. Our roses are lovely this year, they seem to have enjoyed the weather. A lot of gardens are looking very colourful, as some things came out later due to the strange spring weather we had, so everything arrived together.
Thought about you in the night, OG: hope there is some resolution to your problems and that your family can put this behind them, if that's possible. ( < HUG > )
Glad to hear its been hot for auntie - we often feel the chill when you describe your wintry conditions, so this bit of sun must be very welcome.
Off to the opticians for me, now, to collect the new 'bins' . Only pain will be in the wallet! Looking forward to a weekend of family and sunshine (for most of the time, apparently, some showers in places...) also great Wimbledon viewing today, Come on Murray, ... Come on Murray.....
Morning all ... still awful problems with the site ... I did a long blog a while ago and it didn't post ... so this is short!
Thnks for chat from those who did manage to get on.
Beautiful morning here after heavy rain last night.
OG - hope things are improving for you and your family
Take care

Good mornng all and BrendaH was sorry to hear about your neighbour. Even though you know it is going happen it is still a shock.
Had a great night again at the the dance show whith Lilya and Darren. All Lating American dancing so very colourful and the dancing was just wonderful. They are very fit these dancers, there were hardly any breaks between the dances and they were not even puffed. Must be great to be so fit and active. Band and singers were excellent as well. Must admit by the time we got home just after 10pm I was more than ready for my bed and fell asleep extremely quickly. Going to have a quiet weekend now to recover. No shows until Saturday of next week when we will be going to see Joe Brown again.
Have a good day all and pleased the site's problems have been sorted. So frustrating when you want to post and can't.
Margobird
Started Thursday evening.
Again thanks for all expressions of kindness and concern today – it’s been said before, but people here are just so friendly and thoughtful. Both been dealing with lots of phone calls today – issue won’t be resolved till next Thursday at the earliest – so shall carry on as “normal”. Been wet here today – garden very happy!
Margobird – so pleased you enjoyed the Albert Hall concert Wednesday night. Hope you are enjoying tonight’s gig too. You are so right about the bunch of nice people on this blog.
BrendaH –we missed you! What a lovely end to your holiday, having Wimbledon follow on like that, especially seeing the Andy Murray match.
Auntie – we have a wildlife rescue centre, in the grounds of the local agricultural college, which takes towels and blankets for its “patients”. They are very occasionally open for visits, where we can see wonderful birds, bats etc close up – but some very sad cases. So pleased for your Mum – and you – that she is doing well, and now nearer her friends.
LG websites seem to have frozen again – so can’t finish or post tonight. Glad it didn’t do this overnight Wednesday!
Now Friday – dry with sunny intervals.
Annette – roses on Thursday instead of Friday – how confusing. I hope the guy in charge had some solutions for Brigadoon. (Just seen that you didn’t see him, but pleased the rose looks better) Thanks for all your hugs. I found it visually disturbing when we went to look at flat-screen TVs last year - did you actually chose one?! Thanks for early morning fish-count.
Lindybird – pleased you enjoyed the film and jellybabies. Hope you get good weather for the new sunhat! I hope I am not giving everyone sleepless nights – but thanks for thinking of us, and for the hug.
Terry – your spread of time off looks rather good being one week in each month – does your MiL live somewhere which is good to visit? I apparently used to look for dust bunnies when visiting my Grannie – I don’t remember it, but mum told me that when I was very young I used to toddle in and lift the edge of the rug, so they assumed I was looking to see whether she had swept the dust under it!
BrendaH – so sorry about your neighbour’s early death, especially when he was a really lovely person. Does he leave a wife and family?
AQ – doesn’t seem long since you were going to the archives to keep cool, now you go to keep warm on a frosty morning!
DjoanS – good morning, hope all is well your side of the country.
Return hugs to all – and now will see if I can post this – at least its in Word at present, so I shall be able to save till I succeed! Just seen how long it is – sorry!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Good morning original goldfinch have been thinking about you and I do hope things will get resolved next week although it must seem a long time away for you both. Lots of hugs from me too.
Enjoyed our gig last night lots of Latin American dancing plus the music made for a very colourful and enjoyable evening.
We have rain over tonight and it has just stopped for now but we really do need it for the garden especially our lawns they are looking very sorry for themselves. We have been watering but it is not quite same as a good drop of rain. Still quite humid though especially indoors. Visitors in a while as I will be seeing my Great Nephew who is now growing in leaps and bounds and a really happy little boy full of smiles for all.
Margobird - pleased you enjoyed your evening - so were you dancing again? Enjoy your time with visitors, especially young Rhyss - they grow up all to quickly!
original goldfich this was a sitting down show. Just as well I think legs are not what they used to be but it certainly made you want to dance. You are right about babies growing up so quickly. He has already progressed to a high chair and solids now.
Morning all: Got on immediately today. Up early to do some much-delayed tidying up in garden - only to find out - oh dear - that our usual (non-subscription-prime-sport) channels are now covering Wimbledon live! Ah, Berdych has just won. What a pleasant looking young man. And Nadal and Murray are next! Maybe I can rush out, and pull a weed, and toss on some food and water in between sets. And I can do some ironing while it's on. Brilliant. (The only non-brilliant thing is that we don't have the flat screen. Oh well.)
Margobird: Professional dancers age really well I've noticed. So limber. Glad you had a good time. Glad to see you're resting up for the next show. :-) Enjoy your visit with grand-nephew.
OG: Didn't buy a flat-screen, but have pretty much decided on size and a couple of makes and LED edge-lighting. I took down the outside measurements of two sizes and am going to tape up some painters' tape on the wall to get an idea of what they'll look like in the living room because it's hard to tell after seeing them all displayed in a store. Even the larger screens started looking smaller. (And is it a "guy" thing that men gravitate to huge screens?) Good idea re saving posts with site being so iffy!
OK. Going to do a bit while the Murray/Nadal game sets up. Back later. Take care all.
