Evening/morning all:
Lindybird; Yes!! What was the Drama next door?? Oh by the way, remember the "Tiger Woods" event down the road where somone drove into a neighbor's garage? Well, heard it was yet another neighbor's young son, totally potted (drunk) who was coming home late and somehow mistook the gas pedal for the brake!! Apparently, the Fire Department was there, etc., and had to cut the (uninjured) perpetrator out of the car because the garage door collapsed onto the car. They've just completed the repairs.
OG. Ooooh. Another lovely butterfly. Thanks!
Alan: Watched the US/Ghana match - felt so bad for the U.S. team (but if they'd won, would've felt bad for the Ghana team!) They started off so lackluster; then picked up in the second half, but then hit (to me at least) a sort of slump toward the end of the second half, but picked up again in the overtime, but to no avail. It doesn't matter which team/player I support, I always feel bad for the loser. These people put so much time and effort into their games.... Soccer is so much more exciting than U.S. football where, as I've noted before, the players are all done up like Michelin men and spend most of their tiime in a pile.....
AQ: We had floor heaters in our church in Watford, and everyone huddled over them (and roasted!) during the winter months. I missed the "red card" reference in your response to Alan....."
Our new back gate got installed today. I worked in the garden (after footie!) and managed to decimate a Potato Vine. Was trying to "re-install" it on the wall, but thought I'd be clever and trim it. Big mistake. Oh well, it'll grow back.
Good morning original goldfinch and I am so sorry to hear that you have a difficult situation at the moment. my thoughts are with you and I hope things will be resolved for you. Beautiful picture.
Margobird
Good morning all doing a lot of catching up now but it will take a while. Thanks to all for the posts and news and the cards for original goldfinch were absolutely beautiful. What a nice bunch of people on the blog.
Toay Bennett was magnificent last night. Hard to believe he is over 80, the voice is just as strong as ever. Great place to see him at the Royal Albert Hall. Second time we have seen him there. At one point in his show he turns the microphones off and just sings with a voice that it unbelievable strong for a man of his age. He does not look that age at all. Stood for an hour and a half singing, he is bolt upright and moves round the stage like someone much younger. We didn't get back until 2.30 this morning so feeling rather tired. Think I will have to have fortly naps later as we are off out again tonight.
We are promised some rain at long last but not until tonight I believe. Couldn't believe how hot it was in London, Very humid and airless.
Lindybird lovely elephant story. I love elephants especially baby elephants. they were my Mum's favourite as well.
Good Morning All.
Just trying to catch up but definitely wanted to let OG know that my prayers this morning are for your son, yourself and your husband.
We have returned from the Wirral, from where we were able to visit Bassenthwaite and Glaslyn. We also were at Wimbledon yesterday and saw the Murray match, which as you know, was brilliant to watch, with some superb tennis.
I will now try to read more and see what I have missed.
Good mornin Brenda H great day for you at Wimbledon seeing Andy Murray win and also visits to Bassenthwaite and Glaslyn. I had to miss the tennis yesterday as we were up in London and only found out this morning as it was a bit late at 2.30am to look at TV text and find out what happened.
Hi Margo, It must have been a special night to have seen Tony Bennett and also not to have been disappointed with the quality of his voice, considering his age. I saw him being interviewed a few weeks ago on the BBC Breakfast News and he certainly didn't look his age.
Morning all ... pouring with rain here, so no gardening .... does that mean I have to catch up with the housework? :-(
Brenda H - I'm so envious ... two osprey sites ... and Wimbledon!
Alan - loved that fox video! Hope the shopping mission is accomplished without bloodshed :-) When I was at school, I spent one summer holidays picking strawberries and raspberries up near Arbroath ... everybody wanted to do the rasps, but not the strawbs ... backbreaking work.
Diane - fabulous wolves ... not sure about releasing wolves into the wild over here though!
AQ - glad your bare-faced bears are not bare-faced any more ... they look so cute.
margobird - glad your concert was so good
Thanks to all for chat etc
Take care
Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

It was wonderful Brenda H and Albert Hall was filled to capacity. Nice to see that his fans cover all age groups as well. Very sincere person who takes time to shake hands of some people on the front row and sign autographs. We were in the third row so very close. He obviously enjoys performing. He is also an accomplished artist so a man of many talents. His backing musicians were top class as well and they have been with him for many years. The drummer used to play druns for Count Basie.
Afternoon all! My, it's another hot day here, temps over 20C and very "sweaty" - I think there might be a thunder on it's way, and I definitely wouldn't mind. Thanks everyone for absolutely gorgeous flower pics, nice chat etc.
Lindybird, when I want new towels and old ones still OK, I take the old towels and bed linen etc to an animal shelter, here they take them happily - if they are not used as beds etc they use them for cleaning. So I can buy new ones for myself and not feel guilty for spending LOL
TerryM, You absolutely made my day yesterday ( or was it day before? well anyhow) when told you have dust-bunnies. I am so lazy with housework and 'cause I live alone there is no one else doing the vacuuming :) We call the dust bunnies poodles and I say that I have a kennel and as long as anyone of them don't bite my ankles everything is fine by me LOL
Margobird, It must've been great to see and here Tony Bennett, you lucky girl!
Just got home from visiting my mum. She is recovering nicely, she was transferred few days ago to rehabilitation ward at her hometown, which is nice for her 'cause now her friends who don't drive can visit her more easily

Hello auntie so good to hear your Mum is recovering and has been to a rehabilitaton ward nearer to her home. It wll good for her to have friends who don't drive to be able to visit her.
It was a wondrful performance by Tony Bennett, this is the second time we have seen him and the voice is still as strong as ever at 80 plus. Tired today because we did not get back home until 2.30am so have not been very energetic today especially as we are out again tonight. My sust bunnies are multiplying at the moment but it will get done at some stage.
