Evening/morning all:
Lindybird; Yes!! What was the Drama next door?? Oh by the way, remember the "Tiger Woods" event down the road where somone drove into a neighbor's garage? Well, heard it was yet another neighbor's young son, totally potted (drunk) who was coming home late and somehow mistook the gas pedal for the brake!! Apparently, the Fire Department was there, etc., and had to cut the (uninjured) perpetrator out of the car because the garage door collapsed onto the car. They've just completed the repairs.
OG. Ooooh. Another lovely butterfly. Thanks!
Alan: Watched the US/Ghana match - felt so bad for the U.S. team (but if they'd won, would've felt bad for the Ghana team!) They started off so lackluster; then picked up in the second half, but then hit (to me at least) a sort of slump toward the end of the second half, but picked up again in the overtime, but to no avail. It doesn't matter which team/player I support, I always feel bad for the loser. These people put so much time and effort into their games.... Soccer is so much more exciting than U.S. football where, as I've noted before, the players are all done up like Michelin men and spend most of their tiime in a pile.....
AQ: We had floor heaters in our church in Watford, and everyone huddled over them (and roasted!) during the winter months. I missed the "red card" reference in your response to Alan....."
Our new back gate got installed today. I worked in the garden (after footie!) and managed to decimate a Potato Vine. Was trying to "re-install" it on the wall, but thought I'd be clever and trim it. Big mistake. Oh well, it'll grow back.
Evening Terry Sorry about your computer problems. You'll not be able to 'whizz' through anything on here tonight - it's unbelievably slow. Cirrus kindly sent me a link to BigRab's latest offering and I can't even get that to run!
Not much watering this evening – believing the forecast for heavy rain Thursday! Just did greenhouse crops, and wall pots & hanging baskets because rain doesn’t always get under the house eaves. Have managed to convince OH that freezer clean out is now a necessity rather than just desirable, because we are having an early glut of courgettes, so have scheduled that for tomorrow morning.
Clematis (wrong colour for where it is, but rather nice):
and a pink one (leaves look a bit sick, hadn’t noticed that – must check them):
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Beautiful flowers, OG. Lovely bells. One of our clematis is looking a bit poorly, we are hoping it hasn't got that 'die back' disease that they seem to get, because then they often die off.
This site is sooo slow now, I'm off to bed!!
Hope it all works OK for you Night Shift folks, have a good day/night, All.
Evening all: Sun showed up around 1:30 today, so lovely afternoon. Went to Home Depot to buy plant food, stakes for tomato plants, etc., and ended up having nice chat with other customer - a Swiss landscape person from Geneva. Then home to spray and feed, etc., etc.
Lindybird: I read about Berdych on CNN.com. Poor Roger. Lovely little elephant story. Wow! Nadal and Murray in the semi-finals; will have to check out the telly schedule.
Hallo also to TerryM, OG, Alan, and Emma. Site seems to be working fine. Off to sort out dinner. Back later.
Only rain we had yesterday was a sprinkle while I was filling car with petrol. Late last night our TV deigned to transmit tennis, starting with the Federer match at 5-1 in 3rd set. When that match was over we had an hour of cricket before they put on Murray’s match. I’m not sure if I watched or I dreamed I watched the latter. It finished just before 3.30 am. So why did I wake at usual time this morn? Then I had a poor start when I tried to log on to my email account. It didn’t recognise my password. What’s more when I followed the help links, it only had the email ID for one I haven’t used for 2 years!!!!! Needless to say when I fed that in, it told me it had expired. Duh. Tried again and it crazily had old ID with new details. After a lot of anguish (one cannot argue with cyberspace, or if one does, nobody replies LOL), I was back to where I hoped to be . . . and there were no emails.
Auntie - Good on you for feeding magpies. Birds are more important than regulations.
TerryM - Houseproud???? You should see my back room. No, better not. There is hardly room for me & my ‘puter. Re contracting bear embroidery: I wouldn’t like to add to the load of the only person I could ask as she suffers from what she calls "foot & mouth" disease - the inability to say "No". Or what my Dau#2 refers to as the "Theory of Insufficient Reluctance". Anyway I finished last night - the bare faces are now bear faces. Next chore is buttons on the jackets.
Alan - That fox video was sooo funny. If the fox was a cat, it would have lost one of its lives.
Diane - Many people tracing family history now use DNA testing. I claim to be a pure-bred mongrel with German, Irish, Scottish & English roots. Possibly some Viking if a g-g-g-mother’s surname ending in -thwaite means anything!!!
OG - Your day lily is the same colour as ours (when it flowers later). Interesting about the wolves at the Highland Wildlife Park. I visited in 2002 & saw a large pack. In 2005 there were only 5. I was told some story that the first were the wrong kind.
BigRab’s ditty is very clever. What a talented crew on this blog.
Annette - One of our reporters has just returned from a visit to Los Angeles. She says that "not a single American news show even mentioned that . . .Australia had booted out its prime minister." Amazing. We have heaps of overseas news in our papers & on TV.
Raspberries Where? Where? If Himself sees berries and/or chocolate on dessert menu, he knows I will go for berries first.
Annette - are you there? - please think positive thoughts for our son - can't go into any detail here. Maybe say more later.
AQ - see above post - please pray.
OG - Of course, what are friends for? I am thinking & praying for your son - and you.
OG: I'm sending positve thoughts.
Paul.
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
OG, my thoughts are with your son and you
