Evening/morning all:
Lindybird; Yes!! What was the Drama next door?? Oh by the way, remember the "Tiger Woods" event down the road where somone drove into a neighbor's garage? Well, heard it was yet another neighbor's young son, totally potted (drunk) who was coming home late and somehow mistook the gas pedal for the brake!! Apparently, the Fire Department was there, etc., and had to cut the (uninjured) perpetrator out of the car because the garage door collapsed onto the car. They've just completed the repairs.
OG. Ooooh. Another lovely butterfly. Thanks!
Alan: Watched the US/Ghana match - felt so bad for the U.S. team (but if they'd won, would've felt bad for the Ghana team!) They started off so lackluster; then picked up in the second half, but then hit (to me at least) a sort of slump toward the end of the second half, but picked up again in the overtime, but to no avail. It doesn't matter which team/player I support, I always feel bad for the loser. These people put so much time and effort into their games.... Soccer is so much more exciting than U.S. football where, as I've noted before, the players are all done up like Michelin men and spend most of their tiime in a pile.....
AQ: We had floor heaters in our church in Watford, and everyone huddled over them (and roasted!) during the winter months. I missed the "red card" reference in your response to Alan....."
Our new back gate got installed today. I worked in the garden (after footie!) and managed to decimate a Potato Vine. Was trying to "re-install" it on the wall, but thought I'd be clever and trim it. Big mistake. Oh well, it'll grow back.
Wednesday morning – lovely day so far. Going to start drafting in Word as I want to catch up but other things are happening, so I’ll add bits as I can – so it may not be morning by the time I finish!!
Diane - good to see that BigRig Steve has his new truck – very smart dash. I notice he is headed to Portland, so will this be the start of his holiday in the N-West? I hope you are not overtiring yourself on your Massive Cleaning Mission! Mmm - $100 to find out if if Adam really was my Greatn -GrandDaddy? I think not! I lost one of my early teddies – held him out of the pushchair as we crossed the river bridge and dropped him through the wooden railings – was consoled by Mum telling me the little fishies would be pleased to have something to play with! Lovely Wolves – they used to have a pack at Highland Wildlife Park, but they referred to only having one earlier this year, when she managed to escape (but they cornered her in an empty enclosure). There is ongoing controversial debate about whether Wolves could be reintroduced in the wild in Scotland.
Annette – Green Frog was not a poisonous one – they has some Poison Dart Frogs in another “tank”, more colourful, but I couldn’t get a decent picture – not easy with things behind glass, and I kept having to shift OH because he was reflecting! We had a really good Indian takeaway on boiler fitting day before we cleaned up the kitchen and we hadn’t made any yoghourt, so we “had to” finish with cinnamon toffee ice-cream!
AQ – sounds like a lot of rain, I hope it knows when to stop! “Last Aussies out of Wimbledon” – I remember when Wimbledon, especially the Men’s tournament, was dominated by Australia.
Auntie – I bet you felt really good being bad and feeding those magpies in the winter! Well done! I hope your Mum is still doing well.
Lindybird – I hope your neighbour’s arm sets correctly without the surgery – they probably assume she will have help at home because of her age, but she sounds the sort of person who probably won’t accept it even if it is arranged for her! I hope you find some bath towels soon, before you are forced to buy any more cardigans! I had strawberries and raspberries mixed last evening – nothing on them – OH had yoghourt on his. I also made Raspberry muffins yesterday - bought raspberries, but of course the best from Tayside!
Terry – so pleased for you to manage a day off – I know you were busy at home but “a change is as good as a rest”! Back view of me on a web page? No way! Bad enough knowing I get seen on surveillance cameras.
Alan / DjoanS – sounds like most of us in the UK have now had at least a drop of rain for our gardens – but I don’t think it’s been enough to help reservoirs situation.
Dibnlib – I’ll wish you a good trip now, while I remember. I hope you have good weather, see plenty of wonderful things and travel safely.
Margobird – enjoy your concerts/gigs this week.
A new plant – already forgotten its species name – which we bought at Gardening Scotland:
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Morning all: Had good night's sleep so up nice and early; bustling around a bit today with various errands. Some "good" news about pelicans caught in the oil leak - last night's news showed the pelican-cleaning process, with healthy and refreshed birds being crated up and flown to Port Aransas, Texas, and released there Port Aransas is the only place in the U.S. where you can see whooping crane up close. You wouldn't think of Texas as a major birding state, but I think it logs more species than any other.
Lindybird: We still have some ice cream left, but you'd better get here quick. Tried all the new flavors but somehow still like the old ones. I must say Haagen Daz makes a very good coffee ice cream. Never buy treats to keep for guests for same reason. Won't be doing this particular one again - very dangerous. When we redid our bathroom, had a heckuva time finding the right colored towels - turned into a full-time job. :-( Had to smile at comment about Andy Murray's nationality being dependent on how he performs at Wimbledon!
OG: Lots of letters in Nat. Geo this month about an article they did a while back on wolves; no-one is happy with the current debate about their very successful reintroduction and the pros and cons of that. Cinnamon toffee ice cream? Haven't seen that one. But raspberry muffins. Yum! Seems like tennis is suffering world-wide thanks to video games - kids don't get off ther bottoms these days.
Better get organized. Back later. Take care all.
Glad you've had a rest, Annette: Just mentioned on the Daily Thread (off topic!) that Berdych has won the tennis, beating the Champion Federer the Almighty by 2 sets to 1. Now getting ready to watch the Murray match. (afraid that nationality is a big deal here, as you say, because of rivalry between our nations and unfairness quite often, of the 'British' stealing the nationality of the Scots when they excel at sports).
Hot here this afternoon, will have to water the garden again tonight.
If anyone likes baby elephants, here's a nice happy ending tale:

--lovely flower, OG, whatever it is!
Evening everyone. Lindybird - nerves of steel are required at this stage of Wimbledon especially when Murray goes down a set! One set all now and on we go. Loving my time at home in the afternoons and AP will share my Tayberry story with you later on.
2-1 Murray. Go Murray! Go Murray! Fingers crossed. I know its only the quarter finals but there's a Scot playing! Go Murray. Back soon
I'm cheering him on, too, Emma !
Hurray! He Won! - now to play Nadal in the semi-finals, whooppeee....
Well done Andy Murray.1st 2 sets were tough but he came through in the end. Now for Nadal. Lets hope his knees are playing up again.
Actually watched Andy Murray match part of the time, including those aces towards the end - I bet Dunblane is buzzing this evening!
Evening all, have been without ospreys today :(( Apparently some ISPs have not been able to connect to t'internet today in Cumbria and maybe beyond, including Plusnet which I am on at home and at work, so I couldn't do half my job which is internet based and I couldn't have the camera on in the corner of my screen, horrors, and withdrawal symptoms! Might have time to whizz through Daily now I'm back on, but it's all quiet on the nest now, although there was much noise when I arrived (perhaps I disturbed them?). Ought to check how many fish!
