Evening/morning all:
Lindybird; Yes!! What was the Drama next door?? Oh by the way, remember the "Tiger Woods" event down the road where somone drove into a neighbor's garage? Well, heard it was yet another neighbor's young son, totally potted (drunk) who was coming home late and somehow mistook the gas pedal for the brake!! Apparently, the Fire Department was there, etc., and had to cut the (uninjured) perpetrator out of the car because the garage door collapsed onto the car. They've just completed the repairs.
OG. Ooooh. Another lovely butterfly. Thanks!
Alan: Watched the US/Ghana match - felt so bad for the U.S. team (but if they'd won, would've felt bad for the Ghana team!) They started off so lackluster; then picked up in the second half, but then hit (to me at least) a sort of slump toward the end of the second half, but picked up again in the overtime, but to no avail. It doesn't matter which team/player I support, I always feel bad for the loser. These people put so much time and effort into their games.... Soccer is so much more exciting than U.S. football where, as I've noted before, the players are all done up like Michelin men and spend most of their tiime in a pile.....
AQ: We had floor heaters in our church in Watford, and everyone huddled over them (and roasted!) during the winter months. I missed the "red card" reference in your response to Alan....."
Our new back gate got installed today. I worked in the garden (after footie!) and managed to decimate a Potato Vine. Was trying to "re-install" it on the wall, but thought I'd be clever and trim it. Big mistake. Oh well, it'll grow back.
I'm back from the Shopping Expedition: went on my own, the only way to do these things at speed. Went for bath towels and came back with a fuschia coloured cardigan (for me) which I picked up on my way to the Baby Dept.- good job I don't know the sex yet of young 'Sweetpea' or I would have bought up half the shop! - only bought baby coathangers but enjoyed looking at fun things like fancy Bibs, and the amazing new gadgets they have these days for little 'uns. (transport & chair converters etc.) On the way out, resisted a fantastic looking glass serving plate (where would I keep it?) and a gorgeous teapot (do I really need another ?)
Home for lunch with OH and now faced with lots of housework, as someone said above; I do some of mine on certain days but other things only get done when I look hard at it and think - does it really look that bad, better do that now!
Alan: That wild honey raspberry sounds just gorgeous. Wonder where I can get some!
auntie: Hope your Mum continues to improve. How kind of you to look after the birds, at the risk of the wrath of others! Suppose its a rule so that the birds do not make a mess on the balconies etc.
Must go do something to the House, now.... will reply to other posts later...
OG thanks for the correction, had a feeling that alumni was a plural. OH went to Abingdon School (Eric Anderson was his headmaster and he went on to be headmaster of Eton) so a very different sort of school than the one I went to, though I was very happy with it.
Memories of Gairloch for me was with our first retriever Harvey. Now, poor Harvey hated cattlegrids with a vengeance ( even the rattle of them gave him the frights) and every direction out of Gairloch there were cattle-grids. Even where we were staying you could hear the rattle of cattle grids as vehicles went into the forestry. Thank goodnss that Fingal and Dillon haven't got the same phobia. Anyway think I said that this time we are going without our four legged friend. Looking forward to a few days away on our own.
Lindybird know just what you mean about getting things done quicker on your own. Its just lovely looking at baby clothes my ssiter and I will be out again soon buying for Rhys who is growing so quickly not. You were good to buy just a cardi for yourself and resisting the temptation not to buy another teapot and glass serving plate. Not a good time to have to start doing housework though.

Whoo Hoo! Alan - that's a great clip. One big surprise for both of them..
Back now to finish my comments on earlier posts:
Diane: Good Luck with the Massive Cleaning Session: I hate having to do that, too. Great that Trucker Steve has new truck now, as the old one seemed to be breaking down rather a lot. Do we know if he has the cat with him on this trip? That sounds a fascinating study of the human race, not sure if I'm in there anywhere - I'm a rare species you know!! ; - }
OG: Thanks for pics of the lovely python, such markings! also enjoyed the frog and the ants. Oh, and the chameleon! My white flowers are not astilbes, but I don't know their proper name. Great that your new boiler is installed and in working order already, you must be pleased.
Terry M: At least your boss is improving, even if he can't do full time yet - it been hard on you, just when you were expecting to get away on holiday, too, if I remember. Hope he continues to recover, and appreciates your hard work.
Hang on, a fish just arrived at LG!
Alan that is an amazing film of the fox and osprey nest.
Just a quick late evening message because I haven't posted today and I remember once before people began to worry about me! I'm fine - just busy. Will take time out tomorrow morning to catch up! Did find time to dash round garden with camera. First flower on Day Lily :
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
ISS coming over any minute now so just a quick note to anyone on here. Approx south west to east (can't remember exactly) must dash!
Terry in Cumbria
Excellent viewing of ISS tonight, different when it's light, you get more idea of the speed it's going.
Great pics of everything, OG, lovely flower colours, snake markings, butterfly wings. I am a fan of Gordon Buchanan too, so I shall join those of you looking forward to the Hope film next year. Re strawberries versus raspberries, I prefer whichever I am eating at the time. We have had strawberries from the garden for pud for the last three nights, and icecream with them since yesterday, yum! Sweet little bears, AQ, could you contract out the face embroidery?
Hugs to all for the interesting news and gossip, hard to keep up but I wouldn't miss it for the world! Oh, meant to say, we went to The Sage Gateshead on Saturday to see Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at the Lincoln Centre Orchestra. Very good, but OH and I agreed afterwards that we both nearly dozed off during the first three pieces, then they really got going and became great to listen to. I think that's New York???
