Daily Update (LG Nest) Friday 25th June

Hi everyone, happy viewing through the early hours.

Barbara Jean posted a pic on yesterdays diary (at the end) of the chicks in May, compare them to now, they are young ospreys not those fluffy little bundles anymore.

EJ and her brood are sleeping, all is at peace.

See you all in the morning, night, night.

  • Hi.

Thanks for starting a new Daily Update Lynette.

I've just managed to get back online since about roughly quarter to midnight (just before today started).  Our phone line went dead.  This is especially bad when  someone in the house is seriously addicted to Osprey watching.  Let's just say that my language was probably similar to that used by EJ when an intruder tries to land on the nest.

EJ was away on a break when I logged back on.  Then she returned just as I'd forgotten to save the pic of the three youngsters alone on the nest.  I love an Osprey's sense of humour. :-)

  • Evening/morning all:  Thanks Lynette!  Hi Heron! Glad you got the phone line fixed.

\ Just the chicks in view right now.

  • Annette.  The phone line erm well sorta fixed itself.  Either that or someone on the night shift at the exchange, tripped over a cable and was a bit too bashful to mention to anyone imediately.  LOL.

EJ still away on a break.

  • Ej just flew back to the nest and by her stance Odin is on the way

Yup here he is with the first fish of the day

EDIT Two are eating and chick #1 is exercising it's wings,  It's wings are being held more  horizontal, not as bent.

    It is making progress

  • EJ has arrived; chicks still lolling about.  She's calling.  Seems very excited - could it be? Backing up and here he comes - it's Super Odin with a fish.  Boy LOTL just go their first fish of the day too. Were the boys out fishing together?  :-)   One chick has rushed up; another is edging forward to join in. The third is flapping about and peering over the edge of the nest.

  • Oh this is a riot. The third (huge) chick has decided it's time to eat and is trying to wedge him/herself in between the other two (huge) chicks.  Has crouched down - not sure what the strategy is, but can't imagine it's going to be that successful.    Ah. One of the other chicks has had enough and is backing away, so there's room for the third to move up, but it's not happening. Hmmm. Not hungry?  In the meantime, EJ is rearranging the furniture.  She's being followed around by another chick who's also investigating the twig situation.  A short feed with two chicks eating and the other one not bothered....

  • Well that fish was devoured at roughly the speed of sound.  :-)

Annette:  I could just imagine  Odin and Frank on a fishing trip together.  They'd have some amazing tales to tell. :-)
