Hi everyone. Tired from long day; just saw LOTL blog and not sure I can watch the cam. :-(
Off to check out previous posts.
Morning All. Lots to read again on here, and I have to go out on the Saturday Shopping Mission. Just time to say glad to hear that your Mum is recovering well, auntie. She may have to have some physio on her hand (is it her right hand, and is she right handed ?). EDIT Just re- read the above, and see its her left hand - doh!
Have a good holiday, HeatherB, and tell us all about it on your return.
Good morning all weekly chatters. auntie glad to hear your Mum is recovering must have been such a worry for you. Heather B do have a good holiday and look forward to hearing about it when you are back.
Lovely day again but hate to say but we really do need some rain. Despite watering in the evenings our lawns are really suffering. Never satisfied are we.
Off to another show tonight. We are going to see Al Green so looking foward to that. First for me but oH goes everytime he is comes to Bournemouth. Its all shows at the moment, we are off to London on Wednesday to see Tony Bennet. Will be OH's Mum and going for a meal beforehand.
Have a good day all.
Margobird
Good morning patriciat hope the dog agility competitions go well for you today.
Garden update. Birds: 3 young Blackbirds seem to be taking over from the adults, but we still get 8 or 9 individuals each day – including Mr Tatty Black and Mrs No-Tail! Dunnock brought a young one yesterday evening – very special as we rarely see their chicks. Pigeons, starlings, goldfinches and sparrows doing what they do, and Mr Greenfinch has now become a regular visitor. Plants: mostly doing well. Peas are a bit disappointing so far, Runner Beans almost at the top of their “wigwams” and flowering, started eating courgettes – as well as carrots, lettuce and radishes. Tomatoes, Aubergines, and Peppers growing well in greenhouse, and Cucumbers catching up (second sowing because first ones got drowned when we were away).
Butterflies in Edinburgh didn’t sit still with wings open, but have a few pictures worth sharing.
These seem to fly fast and in groups and are about 7- 8 cm across:
These smaller ones have transparent wings, apart from the markings, and look like a gyrocopters when they fly:
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Oh, how pretty! OG - lovely butterflies. thanks for the pics. Hot already here today, and we are finding that the ground is becoming very dry. Here in the N. West we are threatened with hosepipe bans again after such a dry winter, and unless it rains soon there may be further problems with water supply. Seems mad after those awful floods a few months ago, but that was a freak event really, when it all came at once and had nowhere to go.
Thanks for enquiries about my new specs: went to SpecSavers, they are wonderful as lots of frames to choose from and I suit the fairly severe styles in vogue at present, so easy to choose 5 'possibles' which I then whittled down to 2 pairs which I could easily have lived with. They had a 2 for 1 price offer on at present, but I got them to change that to agreeing to put some new lenses in my old prescription sunglasses. Two nice assistants (female) gave their opinions throughout, and I am fairly decisive so didn't take long to decide on a smart pair of comfortable lightweight frames. Collect them and the new sunglasses next Friday. Have to wear them all the time so important to get it right. Find that now I can read without glasses as long as I hold up the book/paper to nearer my face, so no need for a readers version.
Continued.....
Thanks to auntie for the link to the Osprey Centre, where you hope to go soon: hope you can safely leave your Mum as she recovers, and take a well earned break. ( <HUG> from me, to you!)
patriciat: Good luck with the agility training this weekend. I saw that about the N.I. chap winning the Open & was surprised myself that there was not much mention of it on the News: this weekend, someone has complained to the BBC about the lack of coverage: imagine if an English guy had won! - there would have been no end of a fuss of him in all the media. Doesn't seem fair to me.
Annette: Hope the garden renovation is on course and that you will soon be able to sit outside in peace, looking at all you have achieved.
Had a Drama next door to us last night, will relate that later as have taken up enough space here as it is....Have a Good Day and a nice Weekend, All.
Afternoon all,
Thanks for all the chat and pics.
OG : Butterfly pics are gorgeous. I think I might have some pics from a butterfly centre in Devon.
Auntie : Glad to hear that your mum is improving.
Patriciat : Good luck with the dog agility and I agree that the papers should have made more of Graeme Mcdowell winning the US open. I have hardly seen any news about it even on TV.
HeatherB : I hope that you have a good holiday.
Margobird : I hope that you enjoy Al Green.
Today we went to Stamford and the final score was Handbags 1 Shoes 1 after extra time. Its a good job it did not go to penalties. LOL
Weather is hot and somewhat sticky . Temp 23.1. Off to watch the footie soon.
Had a job getting on here, after trying to navigate from the Daily Page... had to go to My Page and get here from there!
Alan, & Other Footie Fans: Try this link to see who is going to win the England/Germany Match !!
