Hi everyone. Tired from long day; just saw LOTL blog and not sure I can watch the cam. :-(
Off to check out previous posts.
Hello All. Had a wee visit to LG on Saturday and what a treat all round. Saw Odin bring in a fish (for real, not online!!!). As if that wasn't enough excitement, saw Mother Pine Marten and Marten kit (absolutely banging on the door and desperate for photos to be taken) AND two young woodpecker! What a day, and the weather was beautiful too. Can't wait to go back.
Was Balderdash/InCommunicado - now Grumbleweed - one & the same. Anyone see a pattern here?
aka Balderdash
Aha! Grumbleweed aka Balderdash! Are you going to use both names or have you decided to go with the former? I prefer the avatar for Grumbleweed! Don't start mixing and matching avatars and names - we're already pretty confused over here.
I'm going to be early tonight coz can't possibly stay abed as late as I did this morning! Just hope the two males bring breakfast to our girls earlier than later.
2.30 pm in Adelaide. Last few days I’ve only had time to skim over the posts, watch LOTL cam, as well as the usual LG, Hope the bear, truckcam and all the other sites I now follow! So glad Lady has recovered, at least enough to see her chicks through the next few weeks. Yesterday I swopped days & went to library. Came home weary & cross-eyed but Dau2 had phoned asking to come to tea. OK, leftovers will stretch. She needed help with wedding planning decisions before dashing off to band practice. Tonight 6 of us are going out to sample the food they have chosen for wedding reception. Lovely excuse for eating out with in-laws & out-laws!!!! (We’ve already had our June dinner but I’m not going to count this as July. LOL). Off shortly for another practice hairdo - at a different salon. Will report later.
A marathon of replies & comments. Auntie - You didn’t use words incorrectly. It was just me being deliberately crazy. Lindybird - Why don’t you dry Buzz’s 4th foot first? (Me being silly again.) Re Alium, I embarrassed myself on a visit to an English garden by asking what was the amazing flower. <sigh> It was a chive. But of a size we do not grow here. Likewise our poppies and small by comparison. Love your pics of English countryside. Diane - After Mum died, my father never remembered our birthdays. So we know who had done all our birthday gifts & cards. Is this a man-thing? Guess who buys cards & gifts for Himself's family. Annette - re Lizarda. I believe blue tongue skinks do hibernate. Certainly they sun themselves until they are warm enough to forage for food. Patriciat - A few years ago we could not afford the amount of internet we now use. Luckily prices have dropped. Often prices drop after a new product is introduced - and we get added features. Barbara Jean - Glad you are safe from storms. We did see some pics on TV. I wonder if storms are getting worse or I am just more aware of them now. Alan - Do not suggest taxing osprey-watching. We couldn't afford to pay. And if they did, would we watchers-from-afar have to get passports. LOL. DjoanS - Osteospermum- sounds like a disease LOL. I am trying to think what we call them. Annette - I have always associated oranges with California, never Florida. Perhaps because so much of our orange fruit & juice is imported from Cal. Despite our Riverland growing the same.
Barbara Jean: Just got up to get a glass of water, and I checked the weather. I see that you are in the path of another line of horrific storms. I hope you stay safe tonight!!! Take care.
Everyone have a nice Wednesday. I'm going back to bed. Don't want to be cranky anymore. :-)
Morning, All. Bright and sunny here again, today.
First, thanks to LizFW for reminding me of the adventurers name - Ray Mears of course, he's the one who looks like Adrian Chiles (a TV presenter here). We always enjoy his programmes as they are so well, "watchable" and easy on the eye - he doesn't hog the camera as much as some of these documentary/travel people do, are we getting old and grumpy? - we are always shouting at the screen these days - "show us the picture!" as they show yet another close up of the presenter whoever it is. They have gone thousands of miles with all that equipment and spent days or even weeks filming, then they show us - the presenter!! Aaaargh! - OK, rant over.
"Osteospermum" - I used to say to my Mother, it sounded like a fatal disease; also, she loved Streptocarpus which is a pretty little pot plant - but I used to say it sounded like a throat infection.
AQ: Hope all is successful with both the dinner and the new hairstyle. You will heave a big sigh when these weddings are all done, I'm sure, even though the day itself will be wonderful, its all the preparation which seems to take up such a lot of time.
A mixed day yesterday - Wimbledon good, with Murray going on through with not much difficulty, glad he's got his form back after the last couple of championships where he seemed a bit 'off'. The Budget: Ugh, we knew it would hurt, they did warn us. 20% VAT?? Never thought I would see the day, that's steep. Must stop buying stuff and will have to "live off the land" instead.... (where is the postman with that new skirt I ordered....)
Have a Good Day, All.
Annette Belated thanks for the info about ISS sightings. You have included so much detail! Monday night (well, Tuesday morning) it was due to pass by here about 2.00am. I thought the sky might be too bright (we get little real darkness at this time of year, and the moon was quite bright) but that was academic as I fell asleep! Last night was very hazy - here's hoping for tonight.
As you liked the countryside photos, you might like this one, which I have labelled "I'll follow my Dad to the Ends of the Earth if he wants".....
Must close down and take my elegant hair out to dinner. Back in time for tennis. (Our TV puts it on very late, after regular programs <sigh> I won't say how many times I fall asleep and wake in next match and don't know result until next mornings news!)
Have a nice time, AQ.
Good morning, Tuesday. Cloudy but still warm and dry. Annandale had floods in November and melt water in the spring, but we now have a drought, and face possible water restrictions! The farmers say the grass isn’t coming back after silage and hay mowing, and lawns are looking brown.
Found a bird-strike casualty outside the greenhouse at weekend – young Goldfinch, unfortunately – but the regular one is still at the feeder most of the day – has a meal then stays around in case he feels hungry again! Mr Chaffinch is moulting his body feathers – looks like he is wearing frilly knickers – do you remember them at Wimbledon in the ‘60s, when women were women and men were men? Having early lunch today, then out for museum visit (J M Barrie exhibition), shopping for Son’s birthday present and to browse new lighting for kitchen and finishing with Steak Night at Casa Mia (missed the last one as it was too soon after previous). Thanks for overnight and early morning posts.
Grumbleweed - welcome under any name, but please don’t keep changing it, we won’t recognise you! Pleased you enjoyed LG visit, and very envious re Pine Marten, they are usually so shy.
AQ – the sampling menu certainly shouldn’t count as one of your monthly dinners – it’s a duty which just happens to be enjoyable! I once tried wiping our (past) dog’s feet in a different order to overcome fourth foot syndrome, but it didn’t make any difference, she could still only count to three! Don’t get me started on men and family cards – I once went on strike with regard to his side of the family, but decided they shouldn’t miss out because of his laziness! I don’t think he even tries to remember.
Lindybird – I can’t grow Streptocarpus – allergic to them (and Cinerareas and Primulas). Like the new photo, but Wheat field path looks dry.
Greetings to everybody else, have a nice day, all.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
