Weekly Chat Sunday, June 20,2010

Hi everyone. Tired from long day; just saw LOTL blog and not sure I can watch the cam. :-(

Off to check out previous posts.

  • Oh, darn it!!! AQ: I meant to wish you and Wattle a very happy Winter Solstice in my earlier post, and I forgot. So sorry! I do wish you a wonderful and joyful winter season!!!

I'll try to direct that rain a little more precisely. We are due for some more storms tomorrow so maybe I can get them to your house this time. LOL BTW: You haven't mentioned Lizarda Da Vinci lately. Is she still around? I was wondering about her this morning. No need to answer tonight. I'm going to play one game of Scrabble and head for bed. The heat is making me tired these days.

  • Auntie: Sometimes doing nothing is the best possible thing that you can do! LOL I say have a good rest.

Annette: I've never painted myself with blue woad -- or anything else -- but I have been known to dance in the woods!!! ;-)))

  • AQ: I agree that I'd rather know what happens to one of our birds than have them just not show up.  Our  Winter Solstice has the sun rising at 7 a.m. and setting at 4:52 p.m.

Diane - I'll answer now or I may forget. We haven't seen Lizarda da Vinci for ages and ages. Himself saw her last summer near the vegie patch near the "compost" pile which is her home. I would like to retrieve some of the rotted down mix beneath the pile but I can't disturb her. It has been far too cold for her to venture out but I still leave water for her (or any birds who are afraid of the official bird bath). Himself is convinced she has moved on . . . but he was saying that before the last sighting. LOL Our garden is strange lately. The roses are still flowering - don't they know they should be dormant? The spring bulbs are lushly green (and so are the weeds). The white jonquils are flowering and one lone snowflake flower. They'd better watch out if we get a frosty night. The tree dahlias were pretty but meagre this year. Huh! after all the washing machine rinse water poured on them. After much thought, Himself decided to leave the liquidamber stump and grow a grevillea close by to cover it. The stump was left when the two lumberjacks finally gave in and admitted they were tired. (Funny watching father & son -in-law-to-be trying not to be the first.)

In so many ways California is like South Aus - history, geography.

LOTL chicks are being fed just now. I wonder if Lady just feels so ill she doesn't want anything. I remember forcing liquids on sick kids.

  • Have a nice Monday all. I'm off now but will be back later (after hairdresser and some odd doings)

  • Ooooh!!!! "Odd doings". May we ask . . .

  • Morning All.  Bright and sunny here today, and more sun and warmth promised for the rest of the week.  Summer has arrived properly, and on Wimbledon fortnight, too....

Have to go out this am, but here is a little quote from the newspaper for today's 'smile' :

"I was discussing the 1665 Great Plague of London with my granddaughters, Jessica aged nine, and Mia aged six.  Jessica was querying something with me, when Mia said "Don't argue with Grandad - he was there!"  "

    Have a Good Day, All.

  • Morning all.  Didn't look at the Weekly Chat later yesterday so haven't replied to comments - sorry!

Annette Yes, got the feeder problem sorted, thanks to OH who made a 'thinking out of the box' suggestion!

LizLFW I had a message from my ISP earlier in the year, saying I'd almost reached my monthly limit (watching Dog Agility live streaming from Crufts!)  I decided, to pot with the expense, I'll go for an upgrade, then discovered, to my surprise that the company had introduced new tariffs and I could have more megabytes for less money!

dibnlib I think Talmine is actually where our friends live.  It's such a very beautiful place.  Enjoy!

  • Thanks for the smile Lindybird just what we all need.  OH made me stop looking at Lady yesterday as I just got so upset everytime I did.  We know things are still bad for her but to see her sitting up, looking around and seemingly knowing where she is has given me some hope and from LOtL's blog it is giving them some hope although she will never leave there for migration.  As I type the Laird is feeding the chicks again but lady not showing any interest at the moment.  I will be torn between ospreys and Wimbledon but I think the ospreys will probably win although will have the TV on.
