Hi everyone, been an eventful day, 7 fish in all, chicks have been eating all they can and are getting bigger by the day.
All peaceful on the nest and EJ looks to be getting some sleep.
Happy watching, see you in the morning.

EJ looking truly regal as she looks around with her 3 chicks sprawled out in front of her.

Heather it has been said by quite a few people we shouldn't humanise the ospreys but that is hard to do. they have become so precious to us that it is extremely hard not to do that. We are all creatures and those of us human could learn a lot from these magnificent birds. Their care and devotion to their mate and dedication to their chicks is simply amazing. I can think of nothing better to watch even though I love all birds of prey, ospreys really come tops for me so I am really hoping to be accepted as a volunteer next year. For me it will be a dream come true.

Seeing the video (for which thanks) I think EJ couldn't get the right leverage on the fish when she was up against the fence on the far side - she moved round to a flatter area - she also snuck a few mouthfulls for herself while the chicks were positioning themselves!!!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
I could never do that HeatherB, a broken wing could be fixed but it is knowing where to take an injured bird. I am sure most places in the UK have a wild life sanctuary that could deal with things like this. Perhaps I am wrong. I have often said I would like to be able to care for injured wild life but I would get so distrught I know for those that couldn't be saved.
Morning all: I was getting quite worried by page 8 when no fish had shown up yet, but relief that it was probably just the fog that caused the delay.
Hallo again Valc and Welcome Pharazon! Cirrus/Sue: Thanks for Cuckoo verse and Simon and Garfunkel (a tad melancholy that, song, indeed). Alan: Lovely video of feeding - thank you. Margobird: Did like your post about learning from the birds; very sweet. Not sure how they make decisions about volunteers, but seems to me as if you'd be at the top of the list! Off to start day; back later. Take care all.
I like my neighbours very much but they own a butcher's shop so I guess they have a different mindset to me--- I could get off topic now but will just carry on watching our nest :-)
Thanks Annette I am going to ask all the bloggers to keep their fingers crossed for me. This dream has become so important to me.
EJ mantling and shrieking so intruder must be back.
This is really off topic but have been watching Ascot and there was a horse called Canford Cliffs which is the name of a place very near to us. Got OH to put bet on and he won, delighted needless to say.
I will go even more off topic and tell you SIL has just texted from Afghanistan asking me to send some Aftersun Lotion. Now I don't want him to be there, and I don't want to be there but I would just love to be somewhere where Aftersun lotion would be needed. Temp here in Inverness says 20.5 celsius but sky is cloudy and where is the sun????
