Hi everyone, been an eventful day, 7 fish in all, chicks have been eating all they can and are getting bigger by the day.
All peaceful on the nest and EJ looks to be getting some sleep.
Happy watching, see you in the morning.

the chicks all woke up, and EJ returned; she must have been nearby
still no breakast though
The chicks started getting restless and EJ must have been watching them from close by. She just flew back to the nest with a clump of moss
She is probably easing them into the idea that eventually she will roost in the tree near the nest or go fishing and they will be fine on the nest without her. If there is a problem she can come to them quickly
It won't be long before they are too big for her to sleep on the nest with them .

EJ flown off again
EJ returns. Chicks in a snoozing huddle. Keeping warm & conserving energy perhaps?
EJ calling & flapping wings. Must be intruder.
EJ came back to the nest and was intently scanning the area in the distance. Then suddenly she started alarm calling and mantling. She must have seen an intruder from her tree that was far in the distance and rushed back to the nest. . Now she is on the nest standing guard , preening and waiting for Odin
I hope a fish arrives soon. Those chicks must be ravenous. I must go to prepare evening meal. Bye, Barbara Jean.
Still here - just. Is that a plane I hear? Is it a bird, is it a plane, I hope it's SuperOdin. Bye.
Morning all :)
Someone should explain to Annette about the verse that tells us about Cuckoos: here it is
Normal 0 false false false
In April come he will
In May sing all day
In June CHANGE HIS TUNE
In July prepares to fly
In August go he must
Breakfast is late then?
EJ calling loudly and mantling - frustration at Odin's non-arrival or intruder alert? It's worrying that Odin hasn't yet appeared with breakfast. He's been so early with fish the last few days.
