Morning everyone and welcome to a new week! Last week's Weekly Chat ended with some interesting entries and very interesting links (wonderful pix of swan giving cygnets a ride, courtesy of Lindybird, and, thanks very much Alan; another perspective on those oil-covered pelicans - good news too!). OG: Not rushing and dashing; kids are here and headed to bed early for ultra-early departure. Margobird: Thanks for update on Hope and Lily.
Gather USA/England draw was result of bungle by England goalkeeper?
Paula what a lovely picture of the robin.
Margobird
Lovely Robin, Paula!
Afternoon all ... cold windy and damp here today :-( I'm having a really lazy day today, just pottering around ... OH is away, so I can please myself!
Paula - fabulous robin photo ... looks like you have a lovely garden!
I had three greenfinches on the feeder today ... first time i've ever seen more than two ... they look so beautiful.
Thanks to all for chat etc
Take care

Afternoon all, cold and windy here also, more like April than June.
Lindybird : Thanks for the picture of the paeony. All of mine have flowered now and been dead headed.
Annette : I watched the Slovenia v US game and it was one of the more exciting games in the tournement so far. Slovenia were well worth their 2-0 lead at half time but US game back with great spirit in the second half and in the end 2-2 was a fair result.
Diane : Interesting about your dream of Spain winning the World cup. They were the favourites before the competition started but after losing the first match 1-0 to Switzerland they got off to a bad start. There is still time to turn it around though.
Watching Holland v Japan at the moment and it is looking good for the dutch as they are 1-0 up at the moment.
So football on the HD tele and ospreys on the laptop next to it. What more could I ask for?
Everyone else thanks for the chat and Paula thanks for the robin pic.
3 Greenfinches, DjoanS ! You are lucky, we only have one occasional visitor. (although we do have Goldfinches now, and I'm thrilled about that).
Alan: I think we must be a bit 'behind you' up here in the dark cold North! Our flowers are later than they show on the Garden Progs, too. Enjoyed the Gardeners World Show in Birm'ham last night, there were some lovely poppies !!!!! Liked your comment on the blog last night "Odin 8 - England 0" - it was a depressing match, I had it on but it was boring most of the time so I read the paper, and came on here. (OH was watching at the Bowling Club with 200 others, they were disappointed, too)
In answer to queries, have no idea why our electricity went off yesterday, but OH said it could have been some sort of 'surge' in the supply. At least I know what to do when it happens again....
Sunny here now, but too windy to sit in the garden.
Hi all: Can't stop; off to LA. Depressing news from LOTL. :-(
Ironing done while watching LG and LotL. Another nice day here – and forecast for a week. Will now browse night and morning posts.
Annette – I shan’t condemn the Black Iris this year – I’ll give it another chance!
AQ – it probably won’t surprise you that the regulations governing work on domestic electrical installations are not the same in Scotland as in England. North of the border the latest constraints are not (yet) in force.
Diane – more storms! And so soon after the last lot. Don’t rush about doing stuff in that hate and humidity. OH says he doesn’t mind if my Osprey viewing means we have to pay a bit extra for our ISP on the next bill.
Hi to anyone I missed out – notice some are mainly posting on the daily thread - alongside fish, moss and poo counts!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
how very, very sad the news from LOTL. Hope dad continues to feed the chicks and that they fledge successfuly. Age given for Marge vary between 24 and 26 so a very grand old lady Her chances now would appear to be virtually nil so i am sure it is tears all round. Think it is good she came back to Scotland for a final time.
dibnlib - I agree - here in Scotland she has an identity and is known to many, if she died in Africa or en route, it would be just another osprey, and we might not even have recovered the ring to know about it.
How is Dillon today?
Just thought I should say Hello before it becomes much later in the day. Like the majority of you today, my time on line has been on the LG nest and sadly on LOtL.
It has been so cold here today ( 13c) with showers this afternoon, we need the heating on again, but then I would find Diane's temperatures and humidity so hard to cope with.
