Morning everyone and welcome to a new week! Last week's Weekly Chat ended with some interesting entries and very interesting links (wonderful pix of swan giving cygnets a ride, courtesy of Lindybird, and, thanks very much Alan; another perspective on those oil-covered pelicans - good news too!). OG: Not rushing and dashing; kids are here and headed to bed early for ultra-early departure. Margobird: Thanks for update on Hope and Lily.
Gather USA/England draw was result of bungle by England goalkeeper?
Good mroning DjoanS have a nice lunch and a good chat with your friend, glad the weather is so nice for you as well.
Margobird
Another one out for lunch with a friend - enjoy it DjoanS!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
I don't have a problem with the webcam now. Just a temporary glitch. Probably because they're working on phone/power lines in my area due to several days of big storms. Thanks to all.
Agree, Lindybird - submarines you filled with bicarb/baking powder came in packs of Kelloggs Cornflakes!!
Afternoon all,
Sunny and warm here also. No shopping missions today so doing some gardening in between watching the footie and the ospreys.
BrendaH : I hope your ankle is better soon.
Everyone else thanks for the chat etc. I do vaguely remember those submarines in Kellogs cornflakes.
I'm back from my outing: we had a pleasant lunch at the Garden Centre, I managed to avoid the chips and pies and had a baked potato and salad - but it had lots of lovely cheddar cheese on it! No 'naughty' cake, even though we could see it as we pressed our noses up against the glass of the display near the checkout counter....
Its very warm, but nevertheless have seen folks out and about in sweaters as if it's January.... please ladies, take your vest and woolies off now! Bought my solar lights, so pleased with myself as can decide where to put them now & light up some of the flowers in the garden, at night. (we have a couple already & they've been so successful decided we needed some more)
Took some photos of the latest opening flowers this morning so will post these later.
Brenda: Hope the ankle is improving, and will not hinder you after today (but take today off and rest ;-) )
Diane: Glad to hear that your comp. problems are sorted. Give my love to Stinky when you see her.
Lindybird - pleased that you enjoyed your lunch and avoided chips and cakes, and that you got your solar lights too. I'm looking forward to your new flower pictures. My Black Irises have disappointed me - they seem to have weak necks once the flowers are coming out.
Brenda - I hope you are really resting that ankle and not tempted into gardening or ironing.
Diane - pleased you are back in full contact with the webcam for this wonderfully entertaining day and hope no more storms come your way.
Found this article about the Goldcrest in the Daily Mail:

Glad you have had a nice day Lindybird. I have shorts and a sleeveless t-shirt on today, good job my garden is secluded as it is not a good sight really. I am fairly slim but your body just doesn't look the same as you get older. Jacket potato with cheese and a salad sounds just right today. I love cheese, always hacking lumps off to eat and OH wonders where it all goes to.
I'm with you on the cheese, margobird - love it and have to try not to 'straighten up' the block of cheddar in the fridge!
