Weekly Chat, Sunday June 13, 2010

Morning everyone and welcome to a new week!  Last week's Weekly Chat ended with some interesting entries and very interesting links (wonderful pix of swan giving cygnets a ride, courtesy of Lindybird, and, thanks very much Alan; another perspective on those oil-covered pelicans - good news too!).  OG: Not rushing and dashing; kids are here and headed to bed early for ultra-early departure. Margobird: Thanks for update on Hope and Lily.

Gather USA/England draw was result of bungle by England goalkeeper?

  • Welcome to the weekly chat Val.  I also follow the blog on the sea eagles which was quite sad this year.  Hope Sky and Frisa will be successful again next year.

  • Good morning to all on the weekly chat and thanks for all the interesting posts.  I posted a sentence about the 2 eagles on the Isle of Mull and spelt Sky's name incorrectly should have been Skye.

  • Morning all. 16 degrees, bright with breeze.  Painter here again – bedroom and bathroom windows, so disrupting shower routine!  No plans for today, just “more of the same”.  Garden birds still very busy with all their young.  Thanks for lots of interesting overnight posts.

AQ – how come you get a holiday for the Queen’s birthday and we don’t?!  I so agree with all the good things you say about this Weekly Chat – so enjoy my friends here and all we learn and share together.

Valc – welcome to our random chatter.  One of the best features is the support we can give each other in difficult times.  Our common interest in the ospreys brings us together, but we can share so much else too.

Annette – nice to get the laundry out of the way so soon.  My mother used to iron everything including towels!  I had to put a stop to it when we stayed with her with our first baby and she ironed the nappies (diapers) – result: complete loss of absorbency!  I hope your garden work gets off to a good start today.

Diane – I loved reading about your life with Stinky (as with all your wild critters) – also the links about Black Snakes.  And the description of your conversation with Stinky is just hilarious!!  Don’t apologise for taking up space on here – more, please!

Auntie – good to “hear” from you again.  Please don’t feel pressured into chatting.  We all know you are often very busy, so enjoy your time off.  We are just happy to hear that all is well.  And thanks for your Osprey pictures – loved the one of the nest near you.

Good morning to Cirrus, Lindybird, BrendaH and Margobird who all got on here while I was typing!  Have a nice day, all!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Now I have time to reply to latest posts, while I have a coffee break... which is not coffee, but never mind.

AQ:   I did realise some time ago, that a lot of the things in my wardrobe have been mentally tagged as 'will do for wearing when that day comes and I shrink' !!  -  if I'm on this earth long enough, that is!  Only problem is, by then they will be out of date for the fashion & we will all be wearing shiny silvery jumpsuits, according to the sci-fi films, and its not a Good Look for the elderly!

Welcome to Valc:   Have noticed you for some time on the Main Page, but you are very welcome here, you know!  Join in our natterings, do!

Diane:    Loved the story of Stinky, (not too long at all)  and she looks just gorgeous.  Thanks for the links to the pics, its all very interesting as we don't have many snakes here and they are all very small and 99% are harmless. If I lived near you, they would be taking me away in a  van as a bit strange, as I speak to all creatures, and don't much care who knows it, either!

Hope auntie enjoys her week off work - sleep it off, and then enjoy your webcams, auntie. Glad you've been able to watch the ospreys here by way of the threads, what a pity if you can't get a good view on the cam.

Must go now and do important things like cleaning bathrooms, (hate it) and looking at bills to be paid (enough said).

  • Good morning original goldfinch.  the weekly chat has been really busy of late and it only takes a fish delivery and we are all typing away like mad to record it for those who cannot look in all the time.  You have a nice day too.  We had much needed rain overnight and it is showery today but looks to improve tomorrow for the rest of the week.

  • Morning, everyone. Poor Auntie, we have flushed you  out when you are so busy at work. Good to know that all is well, though and thankyou for replying to us.

Regarding clothes (sorry to male bloggers who might be bored but just skim over next bit) Having been mum of bride three times, stepmum of bride once and mum of groom once, I had until recently quite a lot of so called 'occasion clothes' waiting for an occasion which never came and with measurements (mine) that quite mysteriously have increased. Finally plucked up courage to send most of them to charity shop. I have found that you have to be in what I call my ruthless mode before I can part with some things-----

  • HeatherB I know the feeling.  I have several really dressy items worn to weddings and only worn once because they are not really suitable for everyday wear.  I always pack all my summer clothes away at the end of the summeer and realise there are many clothes I have not worn.  I carry on like this for 2 or 3 years and then get ruthless.  Don't like doing it as I think I will need them as soon as put them for charity.

  • Morning all,

Thanks for all the overnight chat and links. I am afraid all the fashion stuff goes straight over my head as does the football with most of you ladies.

Welcome back Auntie and we know what a hard and stressful job you have and it is not always easy to have the time to blog. Enjoy your break.

    Also welcome to Valc.

Weather is dull and damp with overnight rain. Not at all like June.

Pic of Goldfinch on feeder just now. sorry it is slightly out of focus:

Strange you should say that, Margobird - I was rifling through things the other day, planning what is laughingly (in my case) called the 'holiday wardrobe' and surprise surprise, where is that rather pretty pink top?  :-((

  • Well said, Alan ! Good job that we are such a tolerant bunch here. And surprisingly modest too----! Must go, I'm getting silly now. Blood sugar must need a boost
